Allowing Ukraine in NATO would put Russia in a great disadvantage and the US would be able to manipulate things within Russia and easily cause Russia itself to disintegrate whilst controlling everything happening within Russia. Kyiv also means a lot to Russians spiritually. So Russia has legitimate concerns and it became a war of necessity when Zelensky and his handlers rejected diplomacy.

As for the end game: it’s pretty difficult to gauge what Putin’s end game is, since a lot is at stake and the real war just started. But I’d wager that once they take the east and the whole south - they might be tempted to take part of the north as well to crippled Ukraine permanently.

My question to you is if Ukraine joins NATO, Won't NATO deploy life-threatening weapons close to Russia(closer than Cuba is to US that US refused) or you think it's ice cream & cakes they want to share in Russia's neighborhood?
