Hi Everyone,

The verification fee and application fee for family reunion: will these be paid in cash or via PoS?

If yes the application fee of 75 Euros, will this be paid in Naira?

thanks everyone.

Good morning all, I have a question.
I am earning about 50k/annum and about obtaining an EU Blue card.
I would like to ask if i am earning enough to bring over my wife and two children from Nigeria?
I learnt they (immigration officers) have a special way of calculating this.
I would be glad if someone can be kind enough to explain this to me.

Thanks in advance.

Please is it possible to be asked to submit passport with no mention of travel date or insurance. what does this mean?
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Andypret: 11:40am On Apr 12, 2022
Yes your earning is enough to bring your family just make sure you get a bigger space close to when she gets interview date or after because you will be required to present proof of your accommodation at some point during the visa processing ( saying this so you don't have to keep paying for a big space you don't need for about a year that's just waste of money)

Pls if you applied for an appointment with your passport bearing your maiden name. Do you need to change the name on your passport to that of your husband's after marriage for the interview? Thanks
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Dee222: 2:15pm On Apr 14, 2022
Please I'd like a response on this if anyone knows. Will they explicitly ask for insurance and date or do you just add those when asked to submit passport?

Hi everyone,

Myself and family applied for long term visa and family reunion respectively, and I have pre-approval. We already did interviews and haven't received feedback till now after 3 weeks as per the immigration act.

1. Please how long should myself and spouse wait expect to receive update on our application?
2. And when we do get the request for passports and travel insurance, can we courier the documents to the embassy in Lagos since we reside outside lagos. I don't think we can all travel back to Lagos again to submit the documents.

But, it is possible you already submitted insurance or your spouse had included you in his/ her policy.. nothing to bother in my opinion.. Embassy can reject a visa directly via mail.. wink

Good evening everyone.
Please does anyone know about the “IT specialist” residence permit and what it provides for and limitations, if any?
Secondly, as a spouse of someone issued this permit, does the spouse definitely need to provide A1 certificate?
Thirdly, can anyone please share contacts of reputable german private tutors in Lagos?
I’ll appreciate any insights/responses from the house.
Thank you.

Hello all, after more than 3 years on being in the process, since August 2019,I submitted health insurance since November 2021,only to receive a letter back from the German embassy alongside my documents yesterday, saying they can't grant my visa all sort of rubbish that they have concrete proff our marriage is just for the visa, and my wife is a young German citizen in her early 30s,we have both written back objecting the decision of the embassy, what can we do? The embassy gives us just one month to object the decision or go to court, has anyone encountered an issue like this or knows anyone who has or has any suggestions and also when the embassy says proff of financial situation how do we proff it? Please all help and reply is greatly needed and appreciated thank you all

Appointment on the 2nd of February 2022
Lawyer verification on the 27th of March
Sorry to ask...but has the foreign office contacted your spouse?
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Juoflife1(f): 6:00pm On Apr 22, 2022
3yrs and a rejection.. this is heartbreaking. What could be the concrete proof they have that your marriage is for visa? Is your marriage certificate not authentic? Did the lawyer make any remarks when he came for verification? Is your wife on social kassa? Is she white? You can use your own account as proof of funds. Let your wife excalate the matter in Germany. She needs to write lots of letters in German, she needs to go to the offices. Search online for guidelines too and then get a lawyer. I wish you goodluck.

Thank you for responding to my question. I understand the accommodation requirement and not getting it too early.

Hello!
Please, what's the prospect of getting the visa as couples, I mean submitting my application with that of my spouse at the same time?

I'm planning to be in Germany early next year for a research work, which lasts for a maximum of two years. While I do not have to wait to submit my application, I understand that my wife may have to wait for a minimum of one year before making family reunion application, if we do not submit it together!

For a stay of 2 years (max), I can't understand why she will have to stay back for a whole year before she could submit her application!

Has anyone submitted as couples, what was the outcome?

Note: I'm going there on fellowship, which is sufficient for us, but there are stipends for spouse and children also. So, finance shouldn't be an issue.

In fact, this is one of the reasons I will prefer to submit the application at the same time so that we travel at the same time also because she won't be paid the stipends for as long as she's away from Germany!

Are there things I can do to fast-track the appointment for her visa application?

I shall be grateful for your help in this regard.

Let your fellowship body give you a letter that covers her (you might not need this if your acceptance letter already states that). Or let them mail the embassy when you have gone for your own interview.

Book a date for her alongside with you.

MAKE SURE YOU DROP THE LETTER ALONG WITH THE DOCUMENTS YOU DROP OFF AT THE EMBASSY. If you interviewer asks if you have any questions... Tell them about your wife.

Hello Biggybee

Please can you help with a copy of the letter or a template of the letter your spouse mailed to the embassy.

I sent a mail to you already.

Please help.

Anyone who has a copy of the invitation letter given by Daad to take to the embassy should please share.

Biggybee:

Thank you...
But No sir/ma.
My husband is NOT a DAAD scholar.

The only thing we did was we used the DAAD method. A spouse of a DAAD scholar here was gracious enough to tell me what the content of the letter they take to the embassy was. (SHOUT OUT TO YOU MA.. THANKS!!!)

My spouse then approached the HR at his office to give us a letter to the embassy.

They wrote a letter stating his name, my name, that i was his wife, my passport number, the residence permit he has, his work capacity, how much he earns and that he is able to put me under his insurance , sustain me and put me in a language school over there. They also added that they would want me to join him by January 2022.

All of this was typed on a letter in deutsch with their own letterhead which we mailed the embassy with (this got us a date for interview). I also took a hard copy of same letter to the embassy for my interview, even though it wasn't requested(the interviewer was quite rude), i made sure i dropped it off.

I don't know how helpful this is but please if your SPOUSE ain't a scholar but works. PLEASE LET YOUR SPOUSE TRY AND APPROACH THE HR AT HIS WORKPLACE FOR A LETTER.

I don't think the marriage date affected verification though... Afterall, going through the thread has shown that marriage prior travel didn't stop people from the long wait or verification. I think since the letter from my spouse's workplace already called me his wife, they just agreed that it was.

Thanks again sir/ma.

Sidenote: Now that you bring up the aspect of no verification, can i ask for a refund? Cos i paid the 150k for verification o. Money scarce grin
