Hello friends,
I am out of the country but have property back home. I don't recall the exact dimensions but it's at least a 100x100 (and a bit more) with a 3 bedroom apartment in it.

I am the eldest son with 2 brothers who are also overseas and our parents are deceased. We do not plan to live in Nigeria for the next 10 years (or whenever Osinbajo becomes president grin ).

We do not really want to sell (unless we receive a super-lucrative offer).

How can I best manage the property so that it doesn't deteriorate - especially the house. I do not go to Nigeria often.

The property is in the gwagwalada area of Abuja.

I may rent it out but I am a bit scared because I know that tenants in Nigeria can be unreliable and outright wicked. What will be your advice in such a case, I have not done this sort of thing before.

Are there any reputable/respectable agencies that manage properties for absentee landlords?

If there is an existing thread on this topic, kindly point me to it.

Sell the house if you are not ready to take responsibility physically.

Or find for a trusted family member to take care of the house, you must give the person cut from the rent just to encourage him or her.

I will advise you get some not too well to do members of your family(those ones that are likely to be disturbing you for financial assistance), let them be in charge of the property by collecting the rent. They'll have to go through your lawyer so they don't feel you've handed over the property permanently to them o. By so doing you would have gotten yourself a breather.
