baralatie: The emphasis is to mitigate the present challenges faced by the victims, plans can always be made for tomorrow. Besides it is immaterial if Cameroon opens their spill way or not the same disaster would have happened anyways because the dams in Cameroon can not contain this much volume of water...the force of this mass of water will overwhelm the dam destroying it before unleashing the perennial havoc. The western world for all their sophistication and planned drainage systems still suffer flooding let alone a sh.it hole. |

AmazingELixir:And what happens next year when this occurs again because this occured in time past Or the govt at the center feels not building the relief dam in Adamawa is not their duty |

Is high time federal government and their counterpart start paying for damages incurred by flood in Nigeria. By so doing, they will procure alternative means for it .This can not happen in Europe. |

But when it happened in happened in Anambra some idiots were blaming Peter Obi. I said it that this is a natural disasters and if my memory serves me right with the emergence of Kogi flood other southern state is also meant to flood. |
Imagine some mentally deficient patients, who opened a series of threads on Nairaland blaming Peter Obii for flooding in Anambra State. ASUU should just suspend the strike and let Schools resume. The class of people in Nairaland is mixed up in such a way that intellectual debates become impossible.
This flooding was as a result of Cameroon opening their dam suddenly, it caught everyone down the river niger unawares , it has nothing to do with heavy or incessant rainfall. the flooding that happened during P. Obi time as a governor in Anambra wasn't same as this one, He can still be blamed for Anambra floods during his tenure. |

Cameron has right to open their dam even US cannot do anything about it...a sensible government should have build their own dams and regulate d dams, dredge the river Niger and Benue, prevent people from settling close to the river banks. |

Re: Devastating Flood In Bayelsa State In Pictures by gabicon: 4:43pm On Oct 14, 2022 |
baralatie: Yes, if Nigeria had their own dam they would have released the water gradually thereby controlling the flood. |
Re: Devastating Flood In Bayelsa State In Pictures by brain54(m): 4:45pm On Oct 14, 2022 |
AmazingELixir:Even if the devastation isn’t this much…cos I know this is not just the result from opening the dam…then the effect would not be this much. Long term planning is what we should be thinking and not immediate solutions. |
