They pay more. The major issue the Qatari had was the Deadline for the completion of the Facilities in time for the Games. So they pushed the Workers a little bit than necessary. But I would have thought they ought to have compensate the family of those that died.

That said the Western World are hypocrites. This same facilities had Europeans Companies building them and also they were somewhat pissed because the Chinese had a larger share of the Contracts for the facilities.

The LGBT+ nonsense was smuggled in to just tarnish everything.

All in all, The Qatari did good for their country.

Qatar pays workers higher wages than UK and Europe and that's why Asian Labourers troop into Qatar

An Average construction worker in UK earns £24,000 per anum, pays 28% to 30% in tax living him with £16800 per anum, Average living cost in UK is £800 per month or £9600 per anum leaving you with paltry £7200 per anum as savings

.
Your stats get as e be. Construction workers in the UK get far more than that unless they are exploited illegal immigrants

Yet the commentators for the event will be of British descent. Leave those people. If things don’t favour them, they thumb their noses and look elsewhere. Qatar is hot, I just wonder how the athletes are coping.

The Nairalanders always trolling the Islamic section are busy following the World Cup. The politics followers who claim Nigeria is on fire are doing the same. Hypocrisy tie wrapper for Nairaland.

Before you write up your nonsense reply, why do you compare a construction worker with a nurse? instead of same professions in both countries.
After checking both are the same. Of course many laws that protect a worker in the UK are not available to the Qatar migrant worker.

How do you compare someone working 60 to 70 hours a week tp someone working 35 to 40 hrs a week on the same salary?

Are Healthcare packages provided to this migrant workers?

What is the essence of making 30k euros in a year, and spending tens of thousands of euros on health care in subsequent years.

Saying Qatar was not supposed to host the World Cup is same as denying the Middle East an opportunity to ever host the World Cup. So is the Middle East not entitled to ever host the event? I believe people like you cried blue murder when Africa was yet to host it. Was it not the Europeans that called for the event to be shifted to mid season 6 years ago citing weather? What stopped these same Europeans from pausing their seasons a month to the event?

Truth is the US is bitter about losing the 2022 bid 12 years ago to small Qatar. It has since recruited its lapdog countries and compliant media to taint the event despite being given the subsequent 2026 through its forceful coercion. It has used fifa bribery scandal, migrant workers, lgbt+ and so on to discredit the event. Truth is; we don’t care, whoever is angry should switch off his television and don’t watch, it will not stop Qatar from hosting a good showpiece.

Regarding the pay, please see my reply to another poster above.

Regarding the western world being hypocrite, i do agree with that. But to say that the Europeans or Americans are pisses over contracts is ridiculous. Qatar spent over 200 billion dollars on this world, mostly to please the western world. Do you think they will spend that much to host a tournament for Arabs, Africans and Asians? hahaha.... stop deceiving yourself. At the end of the day, monetary profits from these tournaments still end up in the western world.

Why do the Qataris spend so much money for sportwashing their images literally.

FIFA has being preaching equality for all for several years. Say No to racism, Say to homophobia, Say No to inequality, and protection of human rights. Then why should this be different for Qatar. If the western world is not built on this values, will the Qatar find a spirt invented and globalized by the western world so attractive to spend almost 400 billion dollars in order to host it.

They want the glory that the sport brings, but they do not want the value that has made the sport what it is.

People working without contracts
People working more than 12 hrs in a day. (i know it's a norm in Nigeria embarassed) but these are against labor laws in Europe.
People deported if they cannot continue working, because they got ill or disabling injuries at work
please do your research and talk to people.

Well my comment is directed about take home after tax and living expenses and I can confidently say it anywhere Qatari workers earn more

As for an Arab working as a construction worker in Europe, I can most like tell you it's a big lie and a joke, no GCC citizen would work in the construction industry for any reason, they would rather live off Government benefits

Perhaps you mean indians and Persians but definitely not Arabs

Standard had drastically increased in the Arab construction industry

And also just as you prefer European freezing winter, some Asians don't mind Arab heat
