I know this sir. I simply stopped there on purpose. Moreover, Gazzuzz’s possession of the receipt would’ve made the case easier…I never said he can’t pursue the case without it. Besides, being in possession of the receipt would’ve made it a bit more difficult for the owner to resell. And it would’ve been a criminal case if he had made another receipt for such resale. I believe you know all you stated, but my response was so that the mindset of not being in "possession of the receipt" flaw is not passed down to people that may not know and think themselves at a disadvantage if found in similar scenarios.
Permit me to disagree with you that not being in possession of the receipt would have made it a bit difficult, cos the action suggests desperation and he may have found a way if he still had the will to earn the extra amount provided he was still in possession of the item, even if it meant an illegitimate way. That is if we are assuming there is actually a receipt-just saying. It was an opportunist "misdeed."

However, we both agree that the seller has a character flaw, and it reflected once the opportunity presented itself.

People are really allowed to go away with many things in this part of the world unfortunately.

Firstly, you ‘reluctantly’ accepted his 400k…you didn’t accept it under ‘duress’. Oga, simply put, you ‘accepted’!!!
Secondly, your excuse is that you didn’t promise to deliver it to him on the mainland…that’s not an excuse to resell to a higher bidder. Why would you resell what you already sold to him? You’re lucky he doesn’t have the receipt already.
Thirdly, you may think you’re street smart. But, everything he said about you is true. (No integrity).
Lastly, he trusted you based on the co-existing relationship between both of you. If you really knew the deal was not the best for you, you shouldn’t have ‘reluctantly accepted’ the 400k in the first place. Ciao.

As much as I don't like meddling in nairaland affairs, it is important to correct certain impressions so wrong knowledge is not passed down.
Every contract is required to have 3 elements; an offer, an acceptance and a consideration. The presence of these makes it binding and enforceable!
In this case, there was an offer, there was an acceptance (whether grudgingly or not) and a consideration (which here was the full payment of the agreed sum), so automatically the contract became binding whether written or not and is enforceable. In real terms, if gazzuzz was to pursue the legal route, he would be suing for repossession and wrongful sale of his property-YES, HIS PROPERTY!!!

I quoted you because of the bolded. He does not really need the receipt provided he can establish his offer was accepted and evidence that he made payment (which doesn't even need to be in full to be considered as a consideration. That it was in full, even makes it easier.)

People get away with a lot of things here and need to begin to understand the implications of their actions. My 2 cents
