How many people are in bene republic again?

If Nigeria was just like eg Ebonyi, small, maybe 5 million people, it will be very easy to govern.

Don’t be comparing 5million people to 250 million people. Over 300 ethnic groups. Over 500 languages. Oboy, incomparable.

At least let’s organize our national and state capitals don’t give this excuse

Do you really believe Regional government will make things better? I do hear you on things wouldn't work as a country because of the diversity of tribes... religion and cultures.... but look at States which do not have this diversity... shouldn't they be shining? ... why aren't they? ... is there any that's comparable to Benin Republic? The major hindrances for development in Nigeria is not the diversity but the epidemic of dishonesty, selfishness and greed.

This your response shock me... I see a beautiful Nigeria without Dishonest, Selfishness and Greed.

Yes people always forget that we are many with ethnic divides. We can't move forward if we aren't United which is highly impossible else we go our separate ways. Nigeria is blessed but our leaders have use ethnicity to divide us and do not forget religion as well.

Nigeria is a sinking country.... Before now I have been hearing about how many business men buy things in Nigeria and sell over there in Benin republic and making huge returns.... But because it's a french speaking country many people will look the other way or rather because it's a small country besides Nigeria that's why many Nigerians are underrating them.

To be sincere many Nigerians are now seeing light at the other end, imagine a small country with everything you need ... Even if Peter Obi becomes president I still see myself leaving this country to somewhere I can enjoy simple basics amenities... Ordinary stability of electricity The Giant of Africa cannot boast of it.

Tomorrow which is Nigeria presidential election will have many role to play as regards the future of this generation up coming... As for me and my up coming family I am done with Nigeria for good ... Would never allow my children go through the evil I went through here while growing up.

Please if I may ask.... Can you elaborate more on how to get shops for business... Can you give us some pictures of other business over there .... Would love to see pictures Bro.

Nigeria is certainly not a sinking country to me and many others. It may be a sinking country to you.

It's quite disturbing how ignorant people are about the basic principles of life. YOU CAN'T CONFESS GLOOM AND DOOM AND NOT EXPERIENCE SAME.It will always be gloom and doom even in obvious abundance.

I've NEVER at anytime allow the happenings around me to dictate what I SAY or THINK even right from the days of NOTHING.

Looking back now, people that used to complain about how bad the government is are still doing so......with more venom! While a few of us that kept a gag on our mouth are swimming in abundance.

Don't blame Nigerians. Votes don't count in this country. After the electron, there would be massive rigging.

So why blame the voters. We are just puppies in the hands of politicians. They do us anyhow they like.
bros, they do Woh, rigging can only work if there a semblance of support.. Imagine having a candidate where youths not only massively vote for in d south but the whole country..How can they rig d election..look out how sanwolu is currently begging for a chance & his supporters using tribal manipulation in order to coarse voters...You can't rig if d overwhelming majority refuse u

@ All those who can't understand why big countries, such as China, Canada, US, Russia prosper whereas Nigeria cannot.

The reason is that those big countries, such as China, US, Russia, etc evolved through many years of their direct participation in nature, so they created the type of country they wanted. Their societies were created by themselves, just like if you carry thousands of potatoes in a truck, the bigger, medium and smaller potatoes would naturally sort themselves out and each would find their place. So, they'll create harmony and peace by themselves.

In Africa, our ancestors also did the same thing like every other place in the world, in fact, we did it first because we're the first race to inhabit the world.

Unfortunately, upon our sad encounter with Europeans they destroyed everything we created once they arrived. You all must understand that we didn't create the societies we live in Africa today, rather they were created for us by Europeans.

The countries that our ancestors created looked similar as the peaceful smaller African countries, such as Gambia, Senegal, Sao Tome, Malawi, Lesotho, Botswana, Togo, Benin republic. Indeed, that's why the smaller African countries are relatively peaceful till today. Because they're closer to nature!!

But when Europeans arrived Africa, they through their greed and arrogance merged those small nations (now called ethnic groups) together and created chaos such as Nigeria and all the other large good for nothing African countries.

Since we didn't create the very society that we call our countries, we therefore became disoriented as we continue to suffer identity crises, whether you understand it or not. To make matters worse, they also imposed on us a new language, education, religion. This means that they completely uprooted us away from reality.

The only reason countries, such as Gambia, Senegal, Sao Tome, Malawi, Lesotho, Botswana, Togo, Benin republic, etc are doing relatively better is because THEY'RE CLOSER to being the type of societies that our ancestors created. Our ancestors created small heterogeneous nations (now called ethnic groups) so the more we exist in smaller unit, the more we'll be true to ourselves and the more efficient we'll work.

A country like Nigeria with so many heterogeneous nations (ethnic groups) forcing themselves to be homogeneous, can never prosper. There are too many frictions. There are too many languages. There are too many irreconcilable differences between the ethnic groups. But if we can run a true federal system of government, we'll begin to prosper because we'll be closer to being natural. As the saying goes "you cannot cheat nature".
Yet the hunger and suffering is homogenous across all tribes and ethnicities and faith?

Isn't that a clue that it is time to set all that aside since it isn't putting food in your bellies? undecided

You can't set the differences aside by wishing. Nature is a very stubborn thing to override.

However, it would take honest hard work of nation building (because we'll be creating a brand new nation for ourselves) and it takes hundreds of years to create a new nation, if not thousands of years. So far, we're not even in the right direction.

Food is actually not cheap in Benin. As a matter of fact, food is cheaper in Nigeria than Benin. Got that food below for 1k cfa on my last visit. It's true that cfa is doing better than Naira at the black market, but Naira has a better purchasing power than cfa. This is based on personal experience.
Zaksart:
.

Please can you enlighten us on means of doing business that the OP didn't state... But I heard someone saying food is damn cheap in Benin republic compare to Nigeria.... That with 1k Cefa a family of four can manage it in a day. How true can that be.

Nigerian are very funny people. They will support a disaster because of tribalism and religious and then run to another country who voted a better person to run them. Many people supporting Tinubu today when they swear him in will start leaving the country. When we run go every country who will Nigeria be good. Even as good as this country and as bad as Nigeria is Nigeria is still the biggest economy in Africa. We only have leadership problem, even the whole West Africa countries are not happy with the outcome of the election because they were hoping for Obi to win. The same way it hard for us is the same way it hard for them since Buhari enter because their economy survive on Nigeria economy.

From my understanding so far, as long u meet the needs of the people, u will definitely sell. The most popular skill work here, is Tailoring and Hairdressing. As long as u package urs properly, u will sell, most might be poor but don't joke with their hairs and clothes. One of the cheapest hairdo with long attachment here is about 10k cefa.
Tailoring is lucative too especially when u locate your shop around places that have high concentration of Nigerians or inside Tokpa market.
There is this Nigerian lady that made a clothe for my friend for 20k cefa and I was wondering . Though wasn't too surprised cos we found it hard locating a female Nigerian tailor until we met her. If u wish to make enquiry of any kind from her on sewing, u can reach out via her Whatsapp number +2348067741738. She even makes fine beach wears for ladies.

Meanwhile most of their products here come from Nigeria like good soft bread except u wan eat the Tapalapa as I use to know it from other African countries. Very hard bread but adored here. Things like noodle, spaghetti, soaps, beverages, detergents etc all come from naija.
Sales of building materials are good too cos they long gigantic useless houses when they pick small money lol.
Sales of sewing machine accessories and manual machine sales is a good deal and it sells very fast.
Sales of fanciful home furnitures is bae here and our naija guys are deep in it. Sales of low quality mattress is bae too
Bike parts is lucrative. Motorpart is good too from my recent discovery is goid. It has high profit margin same with stuffs like printers, scanners etc.
2nd hand Android phones not above 60k cefa is a good deal as long as it does WhatsApp. They even buy HTC till date.
Phone repairs and laptop repairs and sales, will pay u well here if u are competent in it.
*Note: learn all skills in naija cos coming to learn it here is very expensive.
If u wanna deal on 2nd hand clothes, bags and shoes, u can buy and sell in naija or shift to another city to sell. U can start this with little money if u don't have enough money for bale, u can come urself or locate a trusted fellow to do picking for u which I even prefer cos in bales, u must surely get some rubbish. No matter what, the profit is still cool.
Ssales of Electricals is also a nice biz, Running a bar is nice too cos them like enjoyment oo.
If u have strength to sell naija foods with good location, u will be cashing out well. Etc. I don tire to write abeg

Boss what about male tailors?
I'm a male tailor in Nigeria here, can I get someone to do business with, where I'll sew here and ship it across... they'll definitely love my designs cos they're top notch.
I hopefully anticipate your reply boss!

This argument does not hold water.

The Chinese are over one billion, with different nationalities, yet their country is fantastic. The Indians the same, with over one billion people. The same goes for the USA with a population of close to 400 million and yet inviting more people from other nations.

Your country, Nigeria suffers because the people simply choose to do the same thing, the same way and wanting a different result. If the people choose the right leaders, who they hold accountable, Nigeria will be a better country.

That argument he is stating holds water I tell you. Population is a big factor in development.

You didn't mention poor countries like "Indonesia, Bangladesh and Pakistan" they are also among 10 top most populous nations in the world even India on your list is a big shiit hole if you truly know that country very well.

Despite infrastructurel development in China and huge funds in the hands of the Chinese govt, there are still tens of millions of poor people in rural China. An average man in smaller Luxembourg lives a more quality life than an average Chinese person despite the fact that the Chinese govt has over 200x more money than Luxembourg.

Lesser population plays more role in development than even leadership. For example; India is the largest democracy in the world with the population of 1.4 billion. The media rate the govt in India as excellent. While govts in countries like Saudi Arabia or Qatar with the population of 2.6m and 35m respectfully are seen as autocratic or totalitarian regimes with no election and one family ruling for decades. Yet the average lives of a Saudi and Qatari citizens in smaller country and bad leadership is better off than a average Indians in supposedly good leadership.

A family of 4 with total monthly income of 250k in Nigeria will live more quality life than a family of 10 with an income of 400k regardless who is leading the family.

International standard is 1000megawatt for 1million people. Nigeria currently needs 200k MW for her 200m people while she currently has 7000mw. No good leadership in Nigeria will get 200mw in 15 yrs. It's not even feasible. But a smaller country like Benin republic with 13m only needs 13k mw or less for steady power supply thats why they are having it.
