Hello Guys,

I landed Toronto 2 days ago and am currently staying in an Airbnb around Milton, until April 30, 2023. This is not cheap. Please does anybody have information on very cheap accommodation in Downtown Toronto (arround Toronto School of Management ...22 College Street) where my college is located. Budget is below $800 and I dont mind a shared accommodation from May 1., 2023.
Please any information will be highly appreciated. I don search tire. Its like all the homeowners want guarantors/4-6 months upfront...etc

Thank you
Chrisoo

Try Kijiji.ca Sort the real estate section by short term accomodations and you should find some good results.

At that budget in downtown you can only get a shared one that is if you get at all. You can stay in Brampton or Missisuaga

Okay, thank you. I will extend my search to those areas. I was mindful of Transportation cost.

Thanks. I have sent enquiries. I noticed that most of the home owners are Asians and they do not want to share units with Nigerians...Although I am temporarily staying in home owned by Indians. They have dominated everywhere.

Very true. Even i myself have an Asian as a landlord but he's been really considerate. Indians are slumlords. They'll either give you a small crappy, dirty barebones accommodation or they'll offer you same living quarters as their family and it'll be stifling for you. E no easy.

You'll get a shared accommodation in downtown for this price, but not expect anything fanciful. All you'll get is one room, possibly very crappy. Or you'll get someone's den. Lower your expectations considerably. Go on Kijiji to look and filter by prices. In the end you'll save on transport, but you won't get that much comfort. Otherwise, you may want to look at more suburban areas around Toronto where your budget may fetch you a reasonable basement, though that's hard. But you'll probably spend more in commuting.

God bless you. Infact, I am not really after comfort now. I am paying more attention to proximity to my school. I believe comfort will come when i start work and then upgrade.

Good evening everyone. Please I am new here and I need help/information concerning submission of passport for COPR. We opted to submit through courier, so my questions are:
1. Do I need to register and fill any form or VFS website?
2. Can I pay the passport transmission fee through my bank mobile app or at the counter?
3. It's a family of 4 (2 kids), will I pay the passport transmission fee for the 4 of us or just for one person since all our passports will be in one envelope?
4. Do we need to submit photocopies of our passports?

Thanks in anticipation.

You can check this AirbnB below if you want to stay in Brampton or Mississauga temporarily.

https://airbnb.com/h/givemb

I have access to further discounts from the owner, for longer stays. April is fully booked though.

Hey guys,

Please has anyone applied for US visit visa as a Canadian PR recently?

I need some guidance, not sure how to start.
Two of my friends just got their visas as PRs and I have an appointment for next month. What would you need help with?

This draft/cheque thing isn't very clear to me. Do I just go to my bank and ask them to raise a draft/cheque for me in the name of the high commission?

You can get a closer date is someone cancels his/her appointment. You just have to keep checking

The wait times I’m seeing are crazy, closest date I can see is 2025.
Is there a way to get a closer appointment date?

I have a conference towards the end of this year I’d like to attend, not sure if I should request expedited processing.

2025!

That's like applying from Nigeria

Probably best to look at other provinces if it's really important

Once you select location from DS160 form, it is advised you repeat the location when making Interview appointment. No much difference among Ottawa, Vancouver and Toronto. It is crazy!

When I first booked, I went with the available date I saw (oct 2024) then went back to reschedule and got Nov 2023 and went back again to reschedule and got May 2023 and I just settled for that (my friend was lucky to get April 11th and already got her visa).

The idea is just book any available date and then go back to keep checking for a closer date. I'm most certain you'll get a date before the end of the year, you just need to keep checking and checking and checking
