Phantom233:
Which census are you talking about next week? You better think twice cos there will be nothing like census next week, maybe in the future cos till now the major field workers who were supposed to be trained for two weeks have not began any training and it's just five days left. All we heard is that training has been postponed indefinitely.
no mind the ignorant werey

Census is here again!!! Coming up next week Wednesday through Friday.

So been thinking... πŸ€” how is this census going to be for singles? The last time I experienced it was in the family house with everyone still living under the same roof.

I'm thinking I should go to my elder sisters house and do mine or will I be the only one they'll count in my apartment? Under which family tree kwanu?

What ya think?
invite me naw..we can census together kwanu

Them fit no even reach your side sef.

I doubt if the exercise will be taken serious

Technology has already been use to count everyone, houses, and trees since 2016. The census will only be used to verify the already-gotten data and to get more information from the already-counted people.

This year's census is defacto, which means you have to be physically present to be counted. The house numbering and household listing will be dejure, during which information can be sought for from neighbours if one is not around. In the case of the OP, if he decides to go to his sister's place to be counted, the enumerator will ask him if he spent the preceding night prior to census day 1 at his sister's place and also if he will be there throughout census reference period. If YES,then he be counted as a member of his sister's household. If No,he will be asked to go back to his house where he will be enumerated as an household.
Why go into all that with monitoring a person's movements when they can instead focus on primary address? Na wa oo! undecided

The last time census was done, I had One kid, right now I have 4 kids living separately from my family ( not separated but working outside the state of residence if my family) so it doesn't really matter, what matters is to be counted!

PRESS STATEMENT

President Buhari Approves Postponement of 2023 Census

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, earlier scheduled for 3-7 May 2023, to a date to be determined by the incoming Administration.

The President gave the approval after meeting with some members of the Federal Executive Council and the Chairman of the National Population Commission and his team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday (28 April 2023).

In arriving at the decision to postpone the Census, the meeting reiterated the critical need for the conduct of a Population and Housing Census, 17 years after the last Census, to collect up-to-date data that will drive the developmental goals of the country and improve the living standard of the Nigerian people.

The President noted that with the completion of the Enumeration Area Demarcation of the country, conduct of first and second pretests, the recruitment and training of adhoc workers, procurement of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and ICT infrastructures, appreciable progress has been made in the implementation of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

He also commended the methodology being put in place by the Commission to conduct accurate and reliable Census, especially the massive deployment of technology that is capable of delivering world class Census and laying a sustainable basis for future censuses

The President further directed the Commission to continue with preparations for the conduct of the 2023 Population and Housing Census in order to sustain the gains already recorded and provide the basis for the incoming administration to consolidate these achievements.

The meeting was attended by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami; the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed; the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Mr Clem Agba and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha.

Oh really. That's good 😊.
I was at yaba market today and we were arguing the last time it was held and they said it was in 2002/3 but I thought otherwise but they eventually won as someone came and confirmed it was held last during Tinubu tenor as governor of Lagos state.

Omor, I remember that year. come and see how girls were lying about their age as everybody gathered in the compound to hear peoples age.

One old aunty said she was born 1990, come see shout! Hey!!!! Aunty aunty aunty, small small na.. grin cheesy grin.. I don laugh Taya that day.

Another woman came and said she was born 2003, hey.. another round of shout grin grin grin... Comedy that day ehn?? grin grin
The last census was held Monday 21st March 2006 - Friday 26th March 2006. I could remember vividly. You can confirm online for knowledge sake as well.

1. I don't follow at all. Your primary address remains your primary address regardless of your movements. So no need to restrict movement even during a census. undecided

If there is no restriction of movement, that primary address thing will not work, because people will have one or two things to attend to intra/interstate.Some may not come back to their place of usual residence during census period. The point is for you to be enumerated where you are going to be throughout census period.

1. Your primary address is simply your home address .i.e there usual place of residence -- where you in fact live. A person can visit many other secondary addresses in the course of a work day or other travels but the primary address remains the same. So counting by primary address, regardless of the secondary address where the person is found during the census is how to avoid double counting errors.. . undecided

This will cause more confusion than the census itself. Which kain country we dey sef? Why wouldn't leaders use us to make money when we ourselves are not even sincere. I dont understand why someone will have to travel to d sister's place or travel to his state of origin to get counted there. Some will lie about everything from age to work to name to state of origin during census. AND YOU WANT A SAINT TO BECOME NIGERIAN PRESIDENT, Na drug baron and gun runners fit Nigerians.

1. Exactly! I am thinking why in the world the census bureau would consider such a complicated formula that almost guarantees errors when the simple solutions work best. undecided
