https://www.nairaland.com/7742091/naira-devaluation-nigerian-banks-heading

Here are the key points of the article:

1. The naira has depreciated significantly in recent years, which has reduced the capital adequacy of commercial banks.
2. Some analysts believe that the new capital requirement for commercial banks could be as high as N100 billion.
3. The banking industry has been preparing for this eventuality, and many banks have already raised their capital.
4. However, there are still some banks that are struggling with capital issues.
5. The new CBN governor will have to decide whether to force these banks to recapitalize or to allow them to continue operating with negative capital.
6. Prof Uche Uwaleke, an economist and professor of capital market, kicked against regulatory induced recapitalization of banks.
7. He said there are other workable options, such as mergers and acquisition or via the stock market.
8. He said the argument for banks recapitalization is like saying the country’s GDP should be rebased simply because of the naira devaluation.
9. He said the CBN can use incentives to encourage banks to recapitalize.

He has published a few more good books since 2009, current one in 2017.

I'd say it is a better book.

Courteville did an MTO to buyout minority shareholders at 0.48k. price is currently at 0.63k. Good for shareholders who didn't sell

Can and will Mansard follow suit ?
Let's even look at MANSARD the Arithmetic and Pry Schl way.....taking it back to the pre-reconstuction time........ Pardon me, na night school I go.. grin

*Opening Price today = 3.78
* Pre-reconstuction Price = 0.94k (3.78 ÷ 4)

* 2022 FYE declared Div = 0.36k (Post-reconstruction)
* 2022 FYE declared Div = 0.09k (Pre-reconstruction)

So, dividend of 0.09k was paid on 0.94k unit share...

The dividend yield on Mansard @ 0.94k = 9.57%
This is a good one if you ask me o. grin

For those who picked it @1.50, the dividend yield would be 24%!
With improved Q1 result, I think this is very nice!
Hopefully, Q2 will come out good too.....

Mansard shouldn't be selling below N4 in my opinion.... that's N1 ! Looks cheap to me if we look deeper into it.

Another problem is that most of us, maybe 70% of us believe stock market is the only game in town.

Those who win long term are diversified. I thought I was smart in 2006 when I was pyramiding my gains into bigger speculative position, i was an unrepentant margin trader between 2002 and 2007.

Whereas older people in the speculative business were using their gains to buy properties, expand their businesses, buy forex denominated Investments,

My saving grace in 2006 was because I did not buy private placements, dead stocks, penny stocks, insurance stocks and any of the stocks marketed by Yomi, if not i for hear serious wheeeen.

Been following the discourse for a day or 2 now

You finally hit the nail on the head for me , that is how I roll , stock market is just part of diversification for me , when I see opportunities that are too good to pass , I plunge in , like doing Covid , the various business I run is the koko and probably real estate , I do not consider myself a long term investor even though I have shares from ipos like gtb from way back and I have bought a few over the last 2 decades , I did analysis of the current value of the 1m worth Of gtb I bought on this page some time ago

My Covid loot of close to 9 figures was used to buy real estate on which I am presently constructing now

We all have various objectives in stock market investment depending on your age , amount of funds available at your disposal , other money making opportunity cost , knowledge and information , risk appetite , time frame available etc

It will be difficult to convince an average trader that has a successful trading business and is compounding his returns by reinvesting in his growing business to invest in the nse

Presently in the market again , though the opportunities I see is not like that of Covid 2020 grin grin grin ,

I hope it's not my monkey hunt that is still pushing chams?

I can see it's on full bid again today.

Market will continue to confuse the FA gurus the more.
Chams is simply on traction on account of the movement of other stocks of similar price category. Same with RTB and Courtville. Anyway, the ride is onto glory for the Sentimental Analysts on board.
When the SA fuel driving them dries up, exit follows.

If I have a stock that gives 200-300% returns,I will gladly sell before it turns to illuquid stock.
Like I said before, Ftn cocoa needs good financial report to remain liquid and maintains current price. If no strong financials by end of Q2, the FA gurus will mock the holders.

I think you're very correct with the RTB and, especially Courtville sir.

For newbies, Courtville is going to pay 0.48k as buy-out Price, present price doesn't justify it.....pls know what you're buying into ooo.......

Most of these kobo stocks that have done 100% and above will need to take a break now.Q2 results will justify their current prices while those with good Q2 will rally the more.

We dont know yet.
Could be any participant depending on the info at their disposal.
Could also be insiders or those positioning into the future of the company, who knows.

Getting filters of an imminent increase in CUSTOMS DUTY.
...on this, my source is quite reliable.

Elsewhere, there's also a plan to raise VAT in the near term.
This though will among other factors, depend on the successful implementation and follow up review of the planned hike in electricity tariff (removal of subsidy in power) beginning July 1, 2023.
...my source here isn't as reliable as the former.

From an NGX mkt perspective, there will be losers but there will also be winners.
Stay ahead of the curve!

60% gross margin. Not net margin o
emmanuelewumi:

Meristem has 2 rates, about 20% for Margin loans. You can only buy approved shares based on their list. They review the list every quarter, maybe to encourage frequent trading. There was a time when GTB was removed from the list, meaning the client would have to sell his or her GTB shares.

I love flexibility, i am not comfortable with the restrictions from Meristem.

Their Asset Backed loan is about 30% all inclusive, you can buy shares with the loan or use it for personal and business expenses. You need monthly or quarterly serving of the loan

The interest rate for Investment One is 22% per annum, they operate bullet payment of the loan interest and principal. Loan runs for a year, you can pay before the maturity of the loan.

Meaning a loan of N1 million at 22%, if you decide to pay after 6 months, you will pay N1.11 million, that is N1 million plus 110k interest.

Not a bad deal for a textile importer who has a stockbroking account with the firm, whose profit margin from his business can be as high as 60% and above

The right thing to do now.
Better you join again at a higher price if positive sentiments continues or good financial report surface than to see it turn to illiquid stock or a massive drop in price.

If you know, you know the gross margin of these guys is more than 100%.

They are buying up all the properties in my area now

Why will a textile material cost 50k when in vogue and later crash to 10k nine months after. These traders have made a killing, the funniest thing be say they don't use their own money, they use the banks money
