These code is associated with timing. Probably not property done or it has jumped timing.

You can also check if the oil is up to full mark. Clear the code and see if it will come back

Your mechanic has welded your camshaft sprocket.
You have the option of driving the car like that, or better still change the welded camshaft

Once a mechanic tells you everything with settle. Then you have been kazeemed.. like say na oven e dey,dey wait to don. Hahahaha. So if oyinbo touch anything for car,e go settle later ba.ok na.incompetent quacks masquerading as professionals. Dey ready for new engine soon.

Are you sure he worked on the crankshaft or camshaft?

For reference, a crankshaft job is done on the bottom of the engine. The oil sump(aka bottom plate) will have to be removed for this job to be done. If it is the camshaft, most of the job done will be on top of the engine. For reference, the valve cover will be removed.

If it is the first case(as far as the top cylinder of the engine was not removed), then the problem is still fixable.
On the contrary, if it is the second case, he probably welded cam phasors permanently on the camshaft. The remedy to this will be replaced the camshaft phasor assembly for intake and exhaust side. I recommend you use the same mechanic but make sure you monitor and tell him EXACTLY what he should do, don't let him tell you that he has been doing this job since the days of Gowon. If he won't agree, change him.

The oil is upto full mark but very dark and burnt..that brings me to the next question, how can a new oil he changed be dark instead of brown..? Cam quality of oil caused this?

Again What I observed was that the color of the engine. Oil he claimed he changed was black instead of brown..I asked him for explanation he told me it was neww Oil mobli 20w50 ..I don't quality of.oil can bring out ds error codes

Oil is not supposed to be black. My Mobil 2000 5w 30 oil that I changed since June is still brown.

I and suspecting a timing issue. Someone is suspecting a welded camshaft. Pls ask him if the camshaft was welded.

If not, I suggest you give to another more reliable and competent mechanic to check and do the timing all over

It's a timing issue your timing is not correct or it's loose.. He needs to. Open the timing and set it right or change the timing chain and ensure its set right that should. Solve your issue

It's a simple fix.. No need for, plenty grammer it's your timing.. The timing chain is either off or it's loose.. Confirm that he used the right timing and set it properly.. Most mechanics don't know how to set timing.. They will argue that as long as it's working it's fine but believe me it's timing it happened to. My 2arfe engine.. Same code .. You will. Notice a sharp drop. In engine power..like the engine is not picking sharp enough.. That's the timing.. It's off.. You can change the vvt valves that's those two right on top of your camshaft even the camshaft position sensor.. But will still give code.. Until.you check the timing either they used wrong timing chain or did not set it right ..

This issue is yet to be solved...I have followed all advises highlighted above..the oil was changed, one of the sensors was changed.. no fault was found on the timing chain...note this is from o another mechanic..

There can only be two things wrong here.

1. Your mechanic did not set the timing correctly. He needs to check the timing position of the three timing marks correlation with the timing chain. If Off Mark, even if its by one tooth on the timing gear, its inevitable for the fault you are experiencing to be present hence the fault code diagnosed and the erratic engine performance especially on idle.

2. The Valve Timing Control component on the Inlet camshaft sprocket has been welded or held in a fixed position by our "local" mechanics thus inhibiting the valve control operations of advancing and retarding of the engine timing. They (some illiterate mechanics) usually set the timing this way simply because they dont know the correct procedure. If the VVTi sprocket has been welded or in a fixed position then you must have to replace the entire sprocket.

Follow the analysis above and also supervise the checking process by an independent mechanic with knowledge of valve timing setting procedures.
