two weeks ago i came back from work to find a guy painting our compound gate from rusted red to black....i asked him who sent him, he replied, landlord..

last week i noticed bags nd bags of cement are now stored in our compound store room nd rumours hv it he wants to plaster and paint our compound fence..

today two painters have started painting the entire building placing scaffold everywhere around the property: as tenants we are all scared, we hv been having series nd series of gossip discussion on what is the landlord's motive. Our rent is cheap at 130k per self contained even without all these stuffs he is adding,we hv not complain the house is not fine oooo. infact we love it like dat. we also heard most houses around are adding about 150k to old rent at once..

Omo, i cant sleep, and all our rents are due from November to December. the man has not said anything. i also saw tiles piled up in that store room. labourer said they will tile the passage nd steps

We all cant sleep again, a guy that use to see vision in our compound church wise said we shldnt bother that he just want his house to look bettee..or highest he will add 10k each...

Landlords should be a bit considerate. They should increase rent with wisdom, not that a landlord will just add a 40% or 50% increase. They should fear the God they serve.

😂😂🤣... OP once landlord starts doing renovation like that, high increase in rent is unavoidable and quick notice to all the tenants is a possibility.

He might feel you guys are paying him peanuts, so he renovates his house, issues every old tenants a quick note, flush out the old tenants and rent the apartment to new tenants who would be willing to pay at a high rate.

FYI, I'm working in KoGi state with Dangote and I'm living in a rented apartment.

If my Landlord decides to make upgrades/renovations on the building, I'd congratulate him and do what I said earlier.

Fear is never an option for me and my family, if I can't afford it, I'll definitely find another apartment.

The landlord opposite ours did renovation, put tiles in the steps and many places. He increased his rent.

10,000 naira increase is an insult.

Expect a significant increase.

My dear brother, just get yourself mentally prepared for an increase.
Everyone in my compound got an increment letter on Saturday and since then the compound has been so quiet.
Imagine me who was paying 150k for self contained apartment, the man increased it to 220k.
Check it out 70k addition to the money.
I am not sleeping too well myself because of this but what can I do.

The man even refused to reduce it to 200k after all the begging.
