The Untold Stories Of Nigerians Seeking Work In Libya. So Unfortunate! by olulekan1992(m): 1:25pm On Oct 28, 2023
Nigerians migrate to Libya for work due to a variety of reasons, although it's important to note that migration can be a complex issue influenced by individual circumstances and broader economic and social factors. Here are some common reasons why Nigerians might migrate to Libya for work:

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

Perceived Higher Wages: Some Nigerians believe they can earn higher wages in Libya compared to what they can earn in Nigeria, especially in sectors like construction, agriculture, and services.

Lack of Job Opportunities: Limited [urjob opportunities in Nigeria, particularly for individuals with lower skills or education, can drive people to seek work in countries where they believe there are more employment options.

POLITICAL INSTABILITY AND INSECURITY

Conflict and Insecurity: Political instability, conflicts, and insecurity in certain regions of Nigeria push people to seek safer and more stable environments for themselves and their families, even if it means migrating to another country.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SMUGGLING

Exploitation: Unfortunately, some Nigerians are victims of human trafficking and smuggling networks. They might be promised jobs in Libya but end up being exploited or forced into illegal activities.

LACK OF AWARENESS AND INFORMATION

Misinformation: Limited access to accurate information about the risks and challenges associated with migrating to Libya can lead some individuals to make uninformed decisions, assuming they will find better opportunities there.

FAMILY PRESSURES AND SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS

Family Expectations: Pressure from families to find employment and send money back home can drive individuals to take risks and migrate, even under challenging circumstances.

Social Status: There might be a perception in certain communities that working abroad, regardless of the destination, elevates one's social status, leading individuals to migrate for social recognition.

PERCEPTION OF LIBYA AS A GATEWAY TO EUROPE

Migration to Europe: Some migrants see Libya as a transit point on their journey to reach European countries. They hope to find work in Libya temporarily and then attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea to enter Europe for better economic opportunities and living conditions.

It's necessary to address the root causes of migration, including improving economic prospects, enhancing education and skills training, and ensuring social stability and security, to reduce the necessity for individuals to migrate under precarious circumstances. Additionally, raising awareness about the risks of irregular migration and providing support to vulnerable communities can help mitigate the dangers associated with such journeys.

Let me tell you
In USA a room what you call self contained is $700 per month, you haven't included phone bills, gas and sundries. Most often than not people do more than two jobs to meet up. Think twice before you migrate.

I worked in an hospital in Nigeria when I was in Nigeria and every week we admit atleast one Libyan returnee. There was a girl that was brought back, pregnant, has brain and balance issue. Hence cannot walk. She crawls everywhere in the ward. Gave birth to half Libyan.

Libya is one of the major routes for Nigerians who want to migrate to Europe illegally through the sea. That's my theory of why there will be Nigerians in crisis-torn Libya

Seems you wanna jump from frying pan to fire... Even staying in Europe without a work permit could be hell, talk less of a war-torn African country like Libya.

I dnt have a single pity for whoever trapped in desert or African countries , no matter how u warn , they will argue and insult you and still headed to desert. Just the way girls act towards yahoo boys.

IF PEOPLE STILL SWEAT BEFORE THEY EARNED IN ADVANCED COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD, HOW MUCH MORE STRUGGLING AFRICAN COUNTRIES. imagine going to Mali to make money

Our people in ZOO prefer to learn from bitter experience rather than counselling.

Give a Nigerian 10 years in USA
He would achieve much more than being in Nigeria for 50 years
You are right to some extent.
You cannot compare USA and Naija.
Hopefully we will get there someday.
USA is 247 years old,
Nigeria is 63.

But there are some Nigerians abroad that they have been there for donkey years with nothing to show for it you know?!

John 3 : 27,
No one can receive a single thing unless it's given to him from heaven

westlius:

I understand
Check the percentage of Nigerians and see greater percentage are better 10years in USA dan in Nigeria
You are right with the percentage part.
You've said it all.
We concur and agree with that absolutely 💯

Calitoscassius:
There are also people who have lived in Naigeria for donkey years and got poorer than they were.

No one! I can guarantee you Is poor in the US.
OKAY!

If you see the amount of sacrifices others put to either execute a revolution in their country or fight wars on behalf of it, you wonder why the black man scarcely executes such.

With all their sweet talks and religious doctrines on how a blissful heaven and 77 k-leg virgins await them after dying, you still discover that this people love life more than anything and never want to sacrifice / die.

No wonder Rotimi Amaechi had to insult them just recently. These are walking dead people with no response to stimuli. Any hardship their polooticians throw at them, they will accept.

But you should also compare the salary being made in both countries.

I have to be frank with you, you have said nothing in this article.

You neither mentioned whether there are economic opportunities in Libya or it is a safe place.

Libya isn't worth travelling. It is facing a civil war and there are limited opportunities. Also, there is high abuse of black Africans who some see as pest. You need to remember that the Arabs of North Africa (they are actually Arabized Berbers) used to have a booming trade in black and white slaves. That is one reason the French conquered the place to put an end to kidnapping of whites in Europe for transfer to North Africa. They look down on blacks.

Their security forces can also be very mean to blacks. You're denied your fundamental human rights and many face severe beatings and other forms of violence. Females are raped routinely by the sex starved security agents (Women here are expected to be married as virgins). Many of our girls return with biracial or half caste children if you prefer.

For those who say "Any country is better than Nigeria" please go there and taste suffering first hand.

The money you used for travelling can be better expended on business in Nigeria which would yield you better money.

I'm not crazy. Are there still real jobs out here

Checking every moment and not seeing anything can be a bit discouraging. Maybe I should just quit searching here, idunno

I'm actually in need of a remote job since ages. Data entry, Customer service personnel, virtual assistant. I'm ready to put in the whole commitment and hard work needed.

Since early this year I've been on this and still yet to land at something substantial. I'm tired of all the redirected links I've followed from here, joined millions of groups and chatted some guys who said they had jobs but turned out to be smoke. Sigh

The Lord is my strength. And the strength of every other person in my shoes. I'd advise everyone to draw closer to God this period cos trust me you can't handle what is coming alone. We all need that divine comfort and faith to not faint in this period.

I need all the waiting powers and patience right now. Sigh

I can't wait to testify with y'all.
