A basic civil service pay of N500 per hour is reasonable and should be affordable for all states and federal government. That translates to N4,000 per day and N80,000 per month. Anything above that is unreasonable and will likely not be taken seriously 2 Likes 1 Share |

The question should be,"What should be, not would be". I can see some people are confused & didn't read your post. Using "Would" only means someone somewhere probably in the government is contemplating it but nah. Anyway by your suggestion, government can implement it. Nigeria has money but private organizations and individual employers would definitely not want to. It will wreck some and for others, they won't want their profit net reduced. Some will prefer to accumulate wealth to themselves rather than evenly distribute it. Now imagine paying at the rate of #1500 per hour for one month as minimum wage, #240,000 for smallest worker. I don't think Nigeria's economy can handle that for now. It's not stable enough & if it's somehow possible in my lifetime, it's probably because inflation has ravaged Nigeria's economy as much as Zimbabwe. However, #500 to #700 is feasible for both federal & private maybe #1000, but #2000 haaaa economy no good ooo. He go hard 3 Likes 1 Share |

BluntCrazeMan:N320K per month is too small compared to what their mates in developed countries are earning. Wages can be increased but corruption and wasteful spending isn't decreased. How much is the earning of lawmakers in countries like UK, USA in relation to lawmakers of Nigeria? If Nigerian lawmakers earn more than developed countries, then it's anomaly. Fixing Nigeria to be rid of corruption, wasteful spending is first step. 1 Like 2 Shares |

Agboola321: Stop comparing the UK to Nigeria. You think that only natural resources drive economies. Listen, the UK has a well-developed economy. While the Nigerian government is obsessed with oil and gas, the UK government is harnessing all sectors of their economy to generate revenue, chiefly through taxes. Besides, they don't have lunatics in government stealing their money. While a country as broke as Nigeria has its president having several jets he doesn't need, Boris Johnson was flying the business class of British Airways as the Prime Minister. This is an edge they have over Nigeria. In summary, the UK has a focused, purposeful and patriotic leadership - something Nigeria will never have in the next 100 years. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Is there a maximum wage cap All those people earning over 500 million naira annually as basic take home pay from the government purse and we don’t get to see tangible work done The disparity between a labourer & a house of representative is too wide Isn’t this why people try to kill themselves to get there 1 Like |

BluntCrazeMan: Political campaign speech are nothing but speeches. There is no substance in them. Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth. AutoCad designs are beautiful until you break ground at site. Simply because it’s don’t that way elsewhere doesn’t mean it will work here. Our economy is not built like that. How do you get to this 2nd job when you have hours of traffic to contend with? And overtime is taxed. You have 40hrs a wk and everything above that is overtime. You earn 1.5% of regular pay as OT. Your total income for the month is taxed. Different tax rates for the regular 40hrs and the OT hours. Example You work 10hours a day and 6 days a week at 10/hr and 15/hr for OT That’s 60hrs a week. Your hourly pay of the first 40 hours is calculated (10 x 40) and your OT hours is (15 x 20). OT and 2nd jobs work in other countries because the economy doesn’t shut down daily at 5pm. Most businesses in their economy run 24hrs. There’s demand for labor for 24hours a day. Our economy is built around 8am-5pm. That’s the first thing to change. But we haven’t solved electricity problem. Without which nobody can run a business 24hrs. We haven’t solved transportation problem. There is no transit system in any state in Nigeria whether roads or public transportation which will allow workers move easily 24hrs a day So it PO was CiC, he wouldn’t have been able to implement hourly pay because of these 2 major hassles. It’s easy to make speeches at campaign ground but reality is different from PowerPoint presentation. 2 Likes |

N400/ hr should be the lowest rate for the lowest class of Nigerian workers. 👉@ 8 hours of work per day 👉@ 22 working days per month. 400 x 8 = 3200 3200 x 22 = 70400 Which means that, no single Nigerian should earn less than N70k a month. Incidentally, when you do simple conversion and extrapolate back to the 1970s, this amount is equivalent to the minimum wage then, when the exchange rate was about💲1 to N0.75 kobo, Which meant you have to use 💲1.50cents to buy one Naira❗️❗️😮😮😮 2 Likes |

CoronaVirusPro: It's the employers that it will be disastrous for...Especially Wicked employers that make pple work for over 12 hrs yet pay them flat rate of like 25k per month... E.g petrol station attendants .supermarket workers..... There are too many small and medium business owners in Nigeria exploiting pple..yet they know how to buy 50million naira cars...yet they will owe employee 3 months salary... Government should first enforce minimum wage across all sectors.....and give NLC more power to enforce these rules and punish any company paying below minimum wage... 1 Like 1 Share |
