The truth is, the social media fools and useless tiktokers are part of why rules are changing. If u understand covert racism/discrimination, you will these countries do not want Nigeria. No government would be happy when you openly talk about the loopholes in their policies. A manager in health and social care told me their international recruitment's direct them that they shouldn’t accept applications from Nigeria and Zimbabwe but they can accept from Ghana, SA and those Asian countries like Philippines, he said he doesn’t understand why he has to reject good applicants because of that. They won’t come out to say we don’t want Nigerians or Zimbabweans nah but they filter applications.

The day I caught one British nurse watching Daddy freeze on YouTube ehn, Mo fo. The way we demonize our continent is at our own disadvantage. They will never respect us and u will never be accepted to this British culture even make u later become citizen, no matter how u try

Their espionage game is on another level, dont be amaze they might even be on this forum reading our comments.

chief im a logistics graduate looking for job. Please you fit show me the ropes and pointers to securing jobs.

Chief, it was a survival job at that time. Like many have said we come and do some jobs just to make ends when the desired was not forthcoming. I guess because of my work ethic I found myself in some position of responsibility. Knowing the struggle fellow immigrants go through you try to make things easier but at the end of the day it almost always comes back to bite you in the behind. That is why sometimes I don't blame some people for not helping other people. We are a complicated people.

Lol hustla, be calming down smiley Once you get a sponsored tech role or other role (outside of care) above 38,700 (or 27k if it's a grad role) then you are on the standard work visa, dependants are allowed etc.
Healthcare/support roles (outside of the NHS) are not allowed any dependants regardless of salary

In all of these, What is the fate of Nurses who are not in the NHS. Would they be affected by this regardless of Salary?
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by bigtt76(f): 1:31pm On Dec 12, 2023
I think you overlooked one aspect of the entire situation. When you experienced the two white ticket attendants, you were alone unlike when you experienced the black attendant ....you were with your family. That may have been the ice breaker there. He has a job to protect and by extension family to feed. We don't know if in the past he's been reprimanded for whatever reason, with cameras around, he just had to issue you the ticket fine. If on the other hand, he gave you a fine but let go of another passenger with same issue, then you can complain with your full chest out.

The last time a black attendant checked my railcard and went on to the next passenger, when we alighted at the station I was getting off from, our eyes caught and he thumbs me up cheesy cheesy cheesy ....I'm sure he thought he was going to use me as a scapegoat that day but was disappointed cheesy cheesy

ehizario2012:
So immediately I got the ticket, I went online to read more and saw that I needed to buy tickets before boarding, except at some small stations where tickets aren't sold. By the rules, I was wrong and accepted it. That's why I immediately paid the £50.

But that still didn't take away the anger I felt towards the guy, especially after two whites had attended to me without any fuss. It was truly an if looks could kill moment... But in retrospect, I thought about his constraints. He might not get away with things the whites would get away with.

Finally, it's better to know ones place at all times. Regardless of the accomodation, we should never forget the deep fault lines - natural fault lines.

Thanks everyone. We good.

In all I give thanks to God because I have not had an adverse situation to complain about. I have a railcard but the only times I've been specifically asked to present it had been at the instance of the black rail commercial team members.

They usually go around asking everyone, or on some services they simply don’t ask anyone.

I used the train A LOT until very recently and I have been asked to show my railcard by a variety of people, with the vast majority being white. The one time I had an issue with loading up the app, the black rail guy just told me to get it sorted because I’d likely be asked when exiting the station I was getting off at.

What does that prove though? Nothing.

The plural of anecdote is anecdotes, not evidence.

Attempting to extrapolate individual experiences to cast a group of people as having any particular character (whether positive or negative) always leads to nothing but prejudice.

Hmmm... In my first week in this country, I took a train to Rotherham from Sheffield and paid £5.6 in cash inside the train, on my way back I paid the same £5.6 in cash. The conductors were white, a lady to, and a guy fro. It was only me that day, I went to confirm our accomodation.

Following day, I packed my family and all my children inside train to Rotherham, got there as usual, met a white conductor outside the train and told him I'll be paying cash inside the train he said no problem. Lo and behold, the conductor I saw was a black man, he asked for tickets and I said I am paying cash. Next thing, this black man gave me a ticket of £100 for not buying a ticket before boarding the train... My protests and samples of receipts of previous journeys fell on deaf ears. I felt so embarrassed with my kids. That's how we do ourselves, over sabi na e dey kill some of us. Over do!!! He definitely came in as a migrant too! If na Lagos we dey, I for use something do am.

Do you actually board a train before buying ticket or you're supposed to buy ticket before boarding. I know the fine for being in a train without ticket is £100.

Modified:

So after reading a few more responses, I can see the OP was ignorantly at fault, unfortunately, ignorance is not an excuse.

One time I did live chat with customer care rep and made a request which was granted, another time I made the same request but this time around, the live agent that attended to me said such requests cannot be granted via live chat, told her I have gotten such request granted via live chat before and her response was that it was wrong and the agent that granted me could be in trouble if caught.

Moral lesson: that it happened before does not mean it was right, it could have wrongfully happened.

Do you actually board a train before buying ticket or you're supposed to buy ticket before boarding. I know the fine for being in a train without ticket is £100.

I also thought train stations have ticket machines that accepts cash.

In my own case, I was heading to Colchester from London Liv so I just tapped in (I asked one of the officers there and she said I dont need to buy a ticket)

Got on the ticket and was told i should have gotten one at the machine so i just bought it from the ticket guy

It is well. But you were just lucky there, you could have been booked. So truth is, it's better to live by the rules as someone said. The first two times I was let off did not mean it should be the norm. Cheers all round.

But all this time you have not said that you have dependants wink...you should divulge the full facts so we can advise you properly grin

On a serious note, yes it would not be possible to bring in dependants post spring in the care sector, however I believe care/support workers in the NHS are exempted so you could have that as your backup plan perhaps, although I'm pretty sure your plan A Tech role will come through.

I am not letting this situation give me hypertension abeg, would alot not change with the NHS trusts now because of the application bombardments? Do NHS have the capacity to accommodate care workers who would want to leave private care homes/support to join NHS due to the promise of sponsorship? And does NHS sponsor foreign workers directly from outside the country by way of issuing CoS? So many questions "tawo tase" inside my stomach angry cheesy

I pay taxes on all my income as do everyone without this "non-dom status" . I ve even had my taxes increased recently because the UK ran out of money. why are they special? They should be taxed for everything before anyone else asks me for more money.

Not entirely correct. They pay tax on their UK income which entitles them to use the services you have mentioned. Whether it’s morally acceptable or not is another discussion.

NHS will now have their pick of candidates. I imagine their selection criteria will become stricter and they will lean towards candidates with prior experience and qualifications.
No need for them to actively recruit outside the UK, as they now have an oversupply within the UK.
