saintjimos: Have you ever run a school or business before. Are salaries the only running costs? How about power? Local government levies? Waste levies, business premises, environmental health levies, Personal income tax? Companies tax?/ Association levies? Tenancy and rent cost? Maintenance and repair costs? Legal representation? Nigerians will calculate the millions of a businessman and never calculate the liabilities involved. Go and run a business in Nigeria and come back with your story. 1 Like 1 Share |

Babaibeji2020:You hate yourself and your family. If Seun is held he will trade off your information that will lead to your apprehension. Wike is implementing PAYE. What is bad there? If you are a mushroom school your tax will be in that order. If you are a big school you also pay as a big school. Nigerians want change but don't want to do something different. 1 Like |

The schools will run at a deficit because not all students are able to pay school fees. Why do Wike want to add to the already populated out of school children in FCT and Nigeria in general. It may also lead to the closure of many private school that serves as a source of employment. mult nationals are closing shops yet they still want to close down the local ones. Our leaders do are so daft that they don't weight the pros and cons of any action before implementation . Educational sector is not the right place to start the tax drive instead they should be encouraged |

Re: Abuja Private School Owners Reject Wike’s Fee Hike by Gaskiya77: 9:31pm On Jan 30 |
Taxes on schools in the FCT? What have you done to the plight of the teachers as the minister of the FCT? The teachers are left on their own with pie-nut as salary. No buses to transport them to their homes after work. The government cannot impact anything on the schools or the teachers. Imposing tax is a no no no. Improve the teachers standard of living first and also provide roads and learning incentives to FCT schools before talking of increasing tax. Nigeria government always killing private business es at their detriment. |

I pity for Nigeria with the way some of the people respond to an issues. Instead of them to criticize objectively they will rather do it blindly. If not what is wrong with the propose new levy. How can you justify that both the big, not too big and small schools pay the same amount as tax to the government? Some schools charge as high as #1m+ as school fees while other charge as low as #30,000 per term and you expect them to pay the same levy or tax to government. I think the minister is in right path on this. It's simply means pay as you earn. If you earn more pay more to the government, if you earn low pay little to the government. 2 Likes |
