He still has rouge edges though. That free kick he saved in the dying minutes is the second of such in this tournament and thankfully we weren't punished. While he's quite confident, I feel his reflexes and anticipation needs some work. There was a South African shot that wasn't far off from the goal post but I didn't see him make a dive, thankfully it didn't result into a goal.

After all said and done, he has absolutely done excellently, would like to see what Osayi and Nwoke also have to offer.

In this KO stage, Osimhen had a dozen cross and nod chances but didn't bury 1. Most were high when he should be nodding downwards. I want to see he and iwobi on the scoresheets in this final. It will be sweet. No midfielder has scored so far. But Defender and Forwards have scored.

funny thing is that the only goal he has scored, he headed downwards

That turn and shoot would have left even Buffon rooted to the spot. Anticipate kini?

But yes he ought to work on parrying the ball somewhere else. Safe to say we have at least 5 solid years with him

Peseiro. Thanks for reacting early in that game. Thanks for seeing that Alex was a burden and SA was using the space he wasn't closing down. Now that we have been found out. Can you possibly switch to 4:2:3:1 in the final game?? Alhasssan & Onyeka to screen the DF, while Iwobi plays behind the CF? Or do we stick to our formation with Onyeka & Yusuf??. Also remember that Osihmen is no longer running on full capacity.
Civ will outplay us if we switch to 4231. I believe sticking with the formation is the right step since they have been getting result with it. Of course lessons will be learnt. Mind you SA is a compact team in fact a club so they know themselves besides yesterday apart from first half, I didn't see much the southafricans were doing. Yes they played well(that team na almost memeoldi sundown, I expected it) . My suggestion:stick with the formation with alhassan and onyeka, then Iwobi for moses this will give him freedom and make him closer to osihmen and Lookman. Or maybe introduce Iwobi later for moses. Civ will try to play aggressively.

It is like saying they would crown Alvarez/Martinez the best player at the World Cup when Messi is more deserving? Blasphemy! Don't say this again!
lovewins:

Ekong is also a strong contender. Except Osimhen scores in the finals he unfortunately may not get the votes even though he's obviously deserving.

Amazing how this is one of the questions I have been racking my brains about since the round of 16.

Onyeka is currently unbenchable as far as the 343 system is concerned. He is the spine of that middle.

Interesting how a change of system can finally bring out the best in a player. Tailor made for the 343, this Onyeka.

Iwobi rather even struggled a bit vs SA but Onyeka shone and shone.

perhaps we can recreate the ndidi-etebo-iwobi midfield. Onyeka takes etebo's place.

I really wish we are playing another country in the final.

It took me the 2004 AFCON quarter final win to stop the hate on Cameroonians after that 2000 final escapade.

Hosting and losing the finals is something that can...

That AFCON 2000 loss still lingers...

I really want the Super Eagles to win. Also, I don't want a great host like the Ivorians to feel the pain of ...

It is going to be a very difficult final for both nation.
It will be a fight till death!
It will be 11-10 penalty win for ...

Nwabali's reflexes and defence organizational skills are great. But one weakness that may deter really big teams from coming for him is his ball distribution, especially in long pull-outs.

I counted at least three pull-outs from him that went straight into the throw-in.

Technically-minded teams want GKs who can not only stop shots but also distribute the ball well.

the man was probably sabotaging us because NFF were late with his salaries and I understand his decision to go after the afcon. The constant delay of his salaries must have been too much to bear that he decided to leave. An afcon title will be a nice look on his resume. This will definitely increase his pay rate and during negotiations with the NFF after the afcon he will try to negotiate for ways he will be paid more and without delay and if they can't provide him such assurance, it will be our loss cos there are lots of countries that are looking for an afcon winning coach.
