Why Exactly Is The Cement Price Going Up This Way? by BluntCrazeMan: 4:50am On Feb 17
Please I need someone to explain it fully to me - like as if I'm 10yrs old.

Why exactly is the price of cement going up this way?? What exactly really happened?

Is the price only affecting Just Dangote Cement?
Or it also affected all the other cement brands like Bua and Elephant.??

Increase in cost of production, transportation etc... that is what you get in a dollar-dependent economy.

So cost of production has remained the same for cement manufacturers while everything else is on the increase?
Make una dey use una brain before making a comment abeg.
Cement production involves mining with heavy equipment that can only be imported as well as it's spare parts and paid for in dollars, those responsible for repairs are also expatriates who will not be paid in naira, add cost of diesel for running the factory at over 1000 naira per liter as well as importing gypsum and others then you will understand. Pay a visit to the quarry of any cement manufacturer then you will understand cement production is capital intensive.
This headless mob attacking me for saying cost of production...i asked one to give an alternative explanation to mine and the farm tool said the reason is Tinubu grin grin grin. Na so sentiments go make you fail exam.

However you choose to see it,

He is arguably the only man in Nigeria who breaks the rule and still win..

Enemy of Nigeria! You wey dey use your dirty brain, is there any justification for 16k a price of a bag of cement that is produced in Nigeria and over 95% of its raw materials are locally sauced?

Is there any justification to take fuel price from N197 to near N1000 now

Or devalue naira from N452 to N1,490 within 8 months? Or have an inflation rate of 30%?

And you expect price of goods and services not to increase?

Kontinue

The best hotel in Nigeria used to be average of 120k per night

Now it is over 245k

Oya go and tell them to reduce their price na

Dangote enjoys tax relief from the government. Limestone and other materials used for production is sourced locally and not imported. Cost of production alone is not enough for him to triple the price of his cement. It's funny how everyone blames farmers for hoarding grains and inflating prices for commodities but yet no one is talking about people like Dangote for doing same

Mumu, so because it's produced in Nigeria that has epileptic power supply and because the raw materials are locally sourced then it means the cost of production will not increase?
Limestone is mined from the quarry using heavy equipment that runs on diesel that is selling for over a thousand naira per liter. Others like gypsum are mostly imported and paid for in dollars which the naira cannot keep up with, coupled with the cost of diesel needed to run the cement factory and cost of transportation.... but a slow being like you believes the cement manufacturers just want to punish the masses.
Educate yourself you illiterate...or better still establish your cement factory so you can produce and sell for 1000 naira per 50kg bag. Banza kawaii.

BUA and LaFarge also increased the prices of their products too, BUA cement is even more expensive but it's okay you can continue with your Dangote-phobia...the poor like hating the rich grin
You clearly have no idea that limestone while available in Nigeria has to be mined using heavy machinery that guzzles diesel which sells for over 1000 naira per liter, and gypsum which is used in cement plants and it mostly imported in commercial quantities and paid in dollars which is very hard to come by in Nigeria and also cost of diesel for running the factory and transportation.
Person go just post crap because him get access to internet.
Control your coded envy and jealousy of Dangote. BUA too enjoys tax relief just like other heavy manufacturers like INNOSON but it's okay you can kee foaming from the mouth over Dangote a private businessman who is not responsible for policy formulations while ignoring the banza government you supported and voted for as well.

Have you ever been to a cement factory? Have you seen the mining equipment used for mining limestone? To even service those equipment you have to bring in expatriates who will be paid in dollars, spare parts will be paid in dollars, same as importing stuff like gypsum which is imported and paid for in dollars. Those mining equipment and spare parts are not produced by INNOSON grin so they have to be imported from Europe mostly and it's paid for in dollars.
At least do a little research on cement production before you display your ignorance na.

Why are you all talking about DANGOTE.??

Is he the only cement manufacturer in Nigeria??

What also happened to BUA Cement, Elephant Cement, and Lafarge Cement.??

Does it mean that they all planned together and continued raising the price of cement.??

(Even without Dangote’s input).

When you say that something is dollar-dependent,, it means that more than 50% of its input are paid-for or procured in dollars.

You mentioned the procurement of Equipment, (you even mentioned INNOSON), just to sound funny.
But let me ask you, do they buy those equipments every week (or even every month)?
Are any of those equipments bought or procured within this period of hike in price?

For the operation of those equipments and their maintenance,, let me even assume that the expatriates are the ones who also do the operation of these equipments (and not Nigerians), then tell me..,, what is the percentage of these O-&-M costs compared to the overall production costs when compared for 2012, 2022, and now??

And then, for the procurement of Gypsum,, what's the percentage of its procurement cost with relative to the overall cost of production as at 2002, 2012, 2022, and now??

The production of Cement, even though it had some few things to do with dollars,, you cannot use that to say that the production of Cement is dollar-dependent.

Why are local manufacturers winding up and foreign ones leaving the country? Cost of production, GSK and PZ left for the same reasons. You don't know the economy of your country is powered by diesel.
If bread bakers and pasta producers are crying of cost of production not to talk of cement manufacturers.
At least i sound funny and not ignorant grin

continue to defend criminal billionaires while they fleece you to stupor. As at October last year, dollar was already 1350 and diesel was 1200 yet I bought cement for 4800. What has happened between January and now that warrant x2 or even x3 increase in price?
