Where is the police? This is not even a police vehicle, there is no evidence that it has any police occupants in the vehicle. |

That ain't no police... Police won't stop on his command... That's a delivery boy who was sent to go and buy fuel inside the vehicle, or to go and deliver it to someone... |

Re: A Lone Nigerian Stopped A Police Vehicle While He Was Controlling Traffic. by 360command: 9:04pm On Mar 06 |
Even if it was the police, they are expected to go through that traffic. It is the duty and by law of the motorist to give way for emergency vehicles passing through. 1 Like |

santaclaws: What if the police were chasing a criminal? Have you thought about this? |
Re: A Lone Nigerian Stopped A Police Vehicle While He Was Controlling Traffic. by etrange: 9:30pm On Mar 06 |
Eniolohunda:Yeah, but taking one way is a very extreme version of having the right of way cause life is involved. Police agents on duty can only take one-way in extenuating circumstances. Even at that, they must prioritize public safety. If taking one-way is the only way to reach their target but also puts other people's lives at risk, the go-to decision would be to let the target escape. Again, they'd usually have thier siren on in such cases. |

Law and order, no one way. Kudos to the man for standing firm and making sure law makers who are stun law breakers are turned back from following one way. Nigeria will be great |

Re: A Lone Nigerian Stopped A Police Vehicle While He Was Controlling Traffic. by Eniolohunda: 12:56am On Mar 07 |
etrange: Taking one way is a criminal act, so law enforcement agencies would not do that in a saner clime. If there is emergency, the other vehicles on the road will give police vehicle way to go, not for them to follow one way. |

Re: A Lone Nigerian Stopped A Police Vehicle While He Was Controlling Traffic. by etrange: 3:23am On Mar 07 |
Eniolohunda: I get what you're saying. It's called the move-over law in Ontario (a nickname for the Section 159 (2,3) of the Highway Traffic Act), and it states which states that you must make way for emergency vehicles if the siren or flashlight is on. However, sometimes, it's not possible for the other vehicle to make make way. I've seen a police car go against a one way street in Bronx, New York during a chase. The road was clear, and they had thier siren on. They do that if they judge that it's necessary to do so in order to discharge thier duty without putting other people lives at risk. This applies to all emergency vehicles including ambulances and firetrucks (and tow vehicles in Canada since 2015). |
