Hope Tony does the same abracadabra with transpower.... I hold some... so far he's done it with the hotel and transcorp which by my own estimation is also over priced
I have always feared to venture into anything TRANSCORP. Even this TRANSPOWER hope of getting to N1000 in imitation of GEREGU looks like a tall dream in my eye. Should it even get to N1000, It is not likely to stay there for more than two days before racing down in a free fall.

TRANSCORP POWER
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 10:14am On Apr 01
I believe that they are correct in using 80million units instead of 7.5billion.

The AFS was for 2023 and the listing (of additional 7.42b) happened in 2024.

That's the only way I see sense to the figures... wink

emmanuelewumi:
Transcorp Power had about 80 million shares before listing, bonus shares given to pioneer shareholders increased the shares to 7.5 billion.

But the company decided to use 80 million shares for their EPS calculation instead of 7.5 billion which is the current outstanding shares of the company

Just like a thief is called suspect until the judge pronounces judgement.... grin

essentialone:
Why do companies use the word 'Proposed dividend, instead of Declared dividend'?

Can shareholders actually cancel, increase, or reduce the dividend declared, during the AGM?

Or is the word Proposed used just as a form of jamboree formality?

To be Frank with you though it looks like a joke it looks like what is happening. Let ask ourselves why is Access bank the only bank that had it's audited financial account approved? Because the dividend payout to shareholders was so small from N17+ EPS you just gave paltry N2.10 to the owners of the bank and you are still coming to the same owners to ask for more money? Please judge this case. I know some others may be finding it difficult to get their account approved maybe because they want to reward their shareholders well and ask for more money so that their banks can expand make more money and pay them better dividend next time. That makes better sense. I pray that at the end of the day reasoning will prevail.
Let Access bank don't think it is over yet because the money they failed to pay their shareholders in dividends will be used in doing extensive marketing for their public offer or right issue. Secondary they will use their retained earnings to pump up their price before coming to the market.
On a more humorous note the saying that we are what we eat. I remembered one bank that had such characteristics before 2008. (Intercontinental bank) That was swallowed by access bank would I now say that Access bank is like what it eats......... Thanks.

Some people hype stocks because they want to cash out.
Others do so because they have privy information.
Others just want to say something to be relevant...

At the end of the day, each of us is the MD of his/her portfolio and should do your due diligence because when/if it goes south, every mallam will hold his kettle... grin

It will mislead the uninformed investor.

You can see how people are arguing with me here than the EPS is not N4. 00

Transpower 2022 eps is N2:30k, if calculated with 7.5b os; N215:46k, if calculated with 80m os.

Their 2023 eps is N4:03k, if calculated with 7.5b os; N376:90k, if calculated with 80m os.

EPS Growth is 75%.

FOR TRANSPOWER
Their 2018 report was not found so I did 4 years annualized growth.

For 2022 & 2023 I use 80,216,000 OS.

4 years annualized EPS growth is 74%.
4 years annualized PAT growth is 78%.

My Ogas, pls I am quite new here and need your perspective on something.

I was looking into MTN and found something about their Tower lease contract. From their report it said "MTN Nigeria’s operations are exposed to foreign currency volatility on its operating and capital expenditure. The most significant of these exposures relates to the tower lease costs, which comprised the bulk of the 45-50% foreign currency exposure in our operating expenses in 2023."

I understand some of these contracts is currently between MTN and IHS, which maintains these towers for MTN.

But I don't understand how this contract works in detail.
I want to know, if MTN built these masts (Towers) and then contract it to IHS to manage or IHS owns these towers and lease them to MTN .

If MTN own theses Towers, these lands that houses those masts, are they on leases too or owned by MTN ?

Every input would be greatly appreciated

IHS builds and MTN leases.
Its NCC regulation. MTN is not permitted to build IBS or towers anylonger, so companies like IHS builds and the telecos can co-locate on their base stations

Something is wrong somewhere grin

If you remember Mecure, you should not be surprised. Knowing when to jump out is the key.
With this result, one could be trapped for a long time as supply will likely far outnumber demand
