I agree with him. If you abruptly cut yourself off any addiction, you will relapse and fall in deeper. Best way to beat the addiction is by reducing your attachment to it while doing other productive things. With time you'll adjust to doing without it.

That is the medical way of dealing with these things. So, why do Christians frown upon the use of mental health therapy, and consult so-called spiritual leaders when they encounter mental health problems such as trouble quitting bad habits including addictions? That passage you quoted came from the book of Joel Chapter 2 where the God of Israel and Judah proclaimed that in the Last Days of His judgment against the nation of Judah(and Zion), He would pour out His spirit on every individual in the nation of Judah at the time so He could directly communicate with each and everyone at the time. God did do as He said He would as recorded on the day of Pentecost by Peter, and the Nation of Judah was judged and destroyed by God during the Last Days ushering in the end time, over 1900 years ago.

Now, were those whom God poured His spirit out on at that time, many of whom were eventually destroyed by God too, "sent by God"? The answer to that is no. They were not prophets of God. They were able to see dreams and visions like prophets but God never chose them to speak in His name to His people like He did the prophets of Old. God does not anoint the unholy and unrighteous to go out in His name. The reason God destroyed the nation of Israel had to do with the fact that the sins of the people had incurred His curse then.

Don't just quote scripture blindly! Investigate the claims made and dig into what the Prophets said regarding every issue you come about.

The major problem with all of Christianity including the JWS whom you love to hate is that on the one hand you claim that God is a savior to you but at the same time you cast Him down as a liar to assert your ideas above His. COnfusion seems to be the order of the day with the religious minds out there.

The God of Israel said His New agreement is the Last of it's kind and proclaimed that there would be no more prophets in the land after the one to Herald the end had come. Addiction isn't "merely" a matter of people lacking self-discipline. Most addicts are broken people—broken in spirit, mind, and/or body. It's not something you can dismiss with a wave of your hand.
