Make sure the RAM is at least 4gig, The Harddisk size doesnt really matter.Intel processors are cool and also HP is d king.Acer is not bad really.

Dell laptops are usually cheaper than HP laptops.

Dell precision m6400 a maxed out one comes with 32gb ram i7 4gb quadro card, mini ssd card and two drive bays. 4k in dollars. You really want a beast, these 75k machines will not cut it. It depends on the kind of work you intend to do.

I use a HP 650 laptop and the RAM is actually 6GB, runs Latest versions of AutoCad and Revit smoothly! Got it at 76k brand new.

Don't buy HP laptop, instead go for dell, sony vaio. Most HP's in the market now are not durable. Am telling you out of experience, for better graphics and engineering design without problem go for Dell or Sony.

Now u have the specification. As for brand go for Toshiba. Toshiba laptops are super, very rugged and durable. Reasonably priced too.I have a L450 Pro for 4 years now and I can attest that all the noise about hp, dell is all hype. Those guys in Toshiba must be wizards to have come up with such unequaled products.

Most engineering software involve some form of 3d modelling and therefore the laptop youre looking for should have a dedicated graphic card like ATI or Nvidia. In short, a good gaming laptop is a good engineering laptop. Unfortunately, gaming laptops are very expensive because of the premium graphic cards and processing power. So really, that 75k budget doesn't cut it. You can try and get some used alienware laptops online for cheaper. But pray it never has a problem because alienware is not a popular brand in naija. After all said, i suggest u get a core i3 or core i5 laptop with Intel graphic chip since that is what ur money can afford. Also try and make the one you get a windows 7 and not windows 8 since windows 8 has a lot of compatibility issues with many older engineering software. For brand, i recommend hp because of their good waranty service.

Whatever laptop you finally decide to get make sure it's a new one and not HP product.

Intel pentium differs from the standard I3 processor.

I endorse the I3-3110m, that's the best and latest tech commonly available in nigeria for the I3.


Don't go for other variants of the I3 for the difference is too distinct and benefits overwhelming.

This is completely false.

I understand a lot of folks are against the brand Hp. While i have no problems with their opinions, i'm strongly against the use of falsehood in driving their points.

The reason for the high figures of negative reports about Hp are probably, because it's the most common brand in Nigeria. I mean high number of users.

HP, is a relatively good brand.

New Hp 650 should not be more than 65k, but I prefer toshiba satellite same price.
