As most of us count down the hours until the
new Premier League season which starts on
Saturday, a ‘super computer’ could have
already predicted the entire campaign.
Experts at Bloomberg Sport have created a
programme that takes many variables into
account, to form a predicted league table for
May.
The table provides the percentage of each
team’s chance of winning the Premier League,
finishing in the top-four and being relegated
to the Championship.

Holders Manchester City have come out on
top in the prediction, albeit only by 0.3% over
rivals Chelsea. The computer has calculated
that Arsenal will move up one place on last
years finish to come third, while Manchester
United will take fourth place to ensure
Champions League football will return to Old
Trafford.
The unfortunate three that have been forecast
to be relegated are newcomers Burnley and
QPR, with Aston Villa also tipped to finish
18th.
Liverpool meanwhile are projected to drop out
of the top-four following the sale of Luis
Suarez, and only manage fifth. Tottenham and
Everton will once again miss out on the
Champions League spots, finishing sixth and
seventh, while Newcastle and Swansea will
recover from rough seasons to finish eighth
and ninth.

Southampton, Stoke, West Ham, Sunderland
and Crystal Palace will form the best of the
bottom-half, while Leicester, West Bromwich
Albion and Hull will all survive a relegation
battle.
Bloomberg’s cutting edge predictor has given
Manchester City’s depth the nod to get the
job done once again, with Jose Mourinho’s
men set to miss out by the finest of margins

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expects his
side to have a difficult game on Saturday when
they host newly promoted Leicester City at
Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea secured a 3-1 win over Burnley at Turf
Moor last weekend, while the Foxes, who won
the Championship last season, earned a hard
fought 2-2 draw against Everton.
Mourinho believes that Leicester City will be a
difficult opponent to face as the visitors
acknowledge the importance of earning every
point in order to stay in the Premier League.
‘The game is difficult,’ said Mourinho.
‘Leicester are champions and they come with
this winning mentality from the previous
season, and they come with high expectations
and motivations to play in the Premier League.
They know that every point is important in this
league, especially for the teams that fight to
keep in the division.
‘They had a difficult start, playing Everton is
not easy, and they managed to come from
behind to equalise and deliver a good game to
Everton. Now they come to us and I don’t
think it will be different. They are coming to
try to get points.
The Portuguese coach added: ‘This is the sixth
Premier League season I start.
‘I don’t think I have a lot to learn from the
fact that every match is difficult and every
opponent is difficult.
‘The results in the first weekend of matches
were draws, 1-0 wins, 2-1 wins with just ours
and the Man City match with a two-goal
difference in the result.
‘Everything was very tight, everything was very
difficult for everyone and if we play at the top
of our game like we did at Burnley, not for 90
minutes but we did for some good periods of
the game, we have a chance to win. If you
don’t, you are in trouble.’
