I just saw this fantastic thriller at the cinemas and I was blown away. Kudos to David Fincher and a perfect ensemble cast.

Ben Affleck, who is actually a better director than an actor surprised me with his solid performance here; but it's an unknown actress (Rosamund Pike), who plays his wife that steals the show. Her character's arc is stunning and many viewers (who haven't read the book) wouldn't see some stuffs coming.

Tyler Perry was surprisingly good in his role, amongst a talented supporting cast.

I predict this movie to be one of the Best Picture nominees at 2015 Oscars and also, Rosamund Pike for Best Actress. A supporting nom could go to any of the wonderful supporting actresses in this wonderful movie.

For now, this is my favourite movie of 2014, closely followed by X-Men: DOFP. I recommend it.

I can confidently tell you 'Gone Girl' is a better film than these two.

Serious?? "Lucy" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction" are actually below par. Movies like that don't get nominated for Oscars. Action flicks rarely get nominated. Lucy is bland and overhyped......TAOE is just a confused action movie with no definite goal. Very few action flicks have made sense this year.

As in....solid movie! And I didn't want to go into details to avoid spoilers. And the casting was spot on.

Gone girl is the movie trending right now. it's not today that I've known that the best movies are not the blockbusters.
Try watching The Fault in Our Stars. Amazing movie too.

Ma lord! The fault in our star was just awesome. I just don't have the words to describe the movie. The chemistry was a perfect combo and till date it's still ma best for 2014.

Age of extiniction is just a scaler quantity. It has magnitude(action packed) and has no direction. Even caught one big mistake they made while shooting.

Op, I've heard about this movie and yes I agree with you, it should be oscar nominated along with the faults in our star.

Good on you. Yes it is Oscar fodder as you mentioned and Rosamund Pike killed it with brilliance, Ben Affleck as drab & expressionless as he nearly always is. I'll go against the grain; I don't think it's a great film... just ok but nowhere near the hype... doesn't have iron-clad logic at the end.
Can you imagine how much sweeter it would have been if at the end VO the last thing he said was "Now I'm going to kill the bit.ch."

Lol. I actually think it's a great film for a thriller. And I don't really buy your suggested ending joor.

I love the movie as it is. tongue

Nah, not at all but na hype catch people. Unrealistic with them knowing what she did and not investigating further and turning hubby into her lapdog for life... oh please.

Kai...Villageboi, you need to rewatch the movie! And you mentioned in your previous post that 'Ben Affleck is drab and expressionless as usual'...lol...I couldn't have disagreed more. The acting was terrific all round; though my favourites were Amy (Rosamund Pike) and Ben Affleck's sister (Carrie Coon).

Oga Vb, hope no be say those ladies distracted you with 'wateva' while seeing this movie? grin And I thought an explanation was given on why Ben Affleck is restricted from freeing himself from his psychopathic wife. I still kinda believed the ending.

In short, I recommend a second viewing.

Btw, looking forward to Inarritu's black comedy 'Birdman' that has earned raves too, more than 'Gone Girl' sef. I would like to hear your feedback on that.

At the turning point when he now confessed his 'badness' to the country - it was his regular under par acting ability there. Doesn't and didn't follow the novel to a T and nor should it. Still a pretty good film as I initially mentioned but I still don't like the ending.

Will have a look at 'Birdman', thanks for letting me know.
