A cone in unstable equilibrium has it's potential energy A. Decreased B. Increased C. Unchanged D. Oscillating
my textbuk and d jamb past questns answer contradicts each other.
Textbuk ans-A. Decreased.....reason is: potential energy decreases as the height decreases
jamb past questn ans- B. Increases....reason is: The height of the centre of gravity of a body in unstable equilibrium is usually raised. Hence P.E increases.
Pls which is the right ans?

one thing I know for sure is that P.E increases with height while K.E increases with velocity. However, The cone with unstable equilibrium has a high potential(stored energy waiting to be released) to move farther from it's initial position when released/tilted/displaced

a=1/2....4
1/2 + c=1
C=1 - 1/2=1/2
a + b=0
1/2 + b=0
b=0 - 1/2 =-1/2
Therefore the values of a,b and c are 1/2,-1/2 and 1/2 respectively

so u are implying ans shud be B. Increased??
Re: Jamb Lecture/past Questions For Science/art Students by Segipaul: 9:41pm On Oct 28, 2014
tuwayz:

a=1/2....4
1/2 + c=1
C=1 - 1/2=1/2
a + b=0
1/2 + b=0
b=0 - 1/2 =-1/2
Therefore the values of a,b and c are 1/2,-1/2 and 1/2 respectively
i concur unless proved otherwise

here, solve these:

(1) the sum of the first two terms of a G.P is 28, but the sum of the third and fourth terms is 252. Find the second term of the G.P, if the seventh term is 5103...

(2) A G.P is such that the 3rd term is 9 times the first term, while the 2nd term is one-twenty fourth of the 5th term. Find its 4th term. cool grin

It is propably B-
Cos for potential energy(energy at rest) the object is unbalance equilibrum,so it Goal to attain the rest position is at high spirit so(increase) is the ansa. Unstable=rest.
(Cos having leave the unstable position,rest position is it aim)
