add a single space between the ALT + EGMR then send. Thus instead of AT+EGMR"IMEI" it becomes AT+(space) EGMR"IMEI"

reboot your phone or put it on airplane mode then remove from airplane mode, check your IMEI using *#06#

Changing the imei makes you browse cheaper using Blackberry BIS subscription instead of the more expensive Android Data Subscription
