They beat bayern without yaya

Na luck. Bayern whooped them silly with 10 men, and even 2 youth players in their side.

Besides na Yaya runs through our midfield I dey fear, which is what made us park the bus at Etihad. We can push forward better without the fear of Yaya counterattacking us.

No be luck oh. Na mistakes from alonso and boateng yes but superb finishing by aguero

Yaya is quality but city is still dangerous without him. They won 2011 EPL with yaya at AFCON remember?

No they didn't cos there was no AFCON in 2011.

Ledley King, definitely

Jaap Stam and Sol Campbell were also intelligent defensively although without finesse on the ball.

Ledley was definitely extremely intelligent, but he was made of glass.

I heard he was having weekly injections into his knee towards the end of his career. Probably the only reason I'll discount his 'brute' status.

But was Sol Campbell intelligent? I seem to remember him as a Mangala style defender though

Good point.
But it didn't stop Chelsea from getting to the top of the table and also getting a six point gap from his team. So till then. Peace!

True. Lampard had still got it though, just give it to him

Ledley was an intelligent 'animal', nigga so intelligent that when his knee cartilage eroded, he played Premierleague for 7 years without training. He swims in the swimming pool Monday-to-Friday, then plays match on Saturday.

Sol was positionally excellent. You can't catch him out of position.

That Mangala is a scam though...

Has there ever been a big brute who was also an intelligent defender?

Someone with say Ferdinand's brain and Mangala's physique?

from players I have watched, I think -
Stam, Vidic & Subotic

Maldini had height+brains but no real muscles

What are your suggested line-ups for the game against Tottenham.

Chances are Jose will still start Hazard despite his current form. I have seen Remy play wide, and it is just not his position.

Willian should also take his time to cool off, and Schurrle should be given a chance to start, it could help improve his form.

My suggested line-up.

-------------REMY

HAZARD/SALAH-OSCAR-SCHURRLE

------MIKEL/MATIC--CESC

LUIS--CAHILL--ZOUMA--IVANOVIC-

------------COURTOIS-------------
THINK JOSE WOULD PROBABLY USE
-------------DROGBA
HAZARD-OSCAR-SCHURRLE/WILLIAN
------/MATIC--CESC
LUIS--CAHILL--TERRY--IVANOVIC-

That was a mean feat. I heard Harry Rdknapp confirm it on Talksports numerous times. It's why they seldom played him in their midweek games.

AFCON 2012 and Man. City won the 2011/12 EPL even after yaya went to represent his country in January

^^^^Dats right.

@all,

Can Sunderland park the bus effectively against City on Wednesday?

@ Lampard,

The way Lampard produces in the final third just shows how foolish some stüpid people at Chelsea were 3 years ago, when they decided to relegate Lamps to a DM/substitute role and promote some brainless goats to play the AM position only to see Frankie still outproduce them attacking wise.

That will include Jose Mourinho. If memory serves me right, he was here until last season and Jose still decided to part with him.

It comes from the top. Imagine Jose landing to find Oscar, De Bruyne and Mata, and he say no, I'm going with Lampard.

Besides I'm referring to 3 years ago, not today.

The main stüpid instigator is Emenalo, who would not know midfield play if it punched him in the face, a ninja who would still be parading Mikel-Ramires midfield if he had his own way.

Emenalo left us without a functioning central midfield for 2 years which cost us many things. I no go forget easily. If not for Jose, we would still be parading midfield of Mikel-Ramires who Emenalo designated untouchables.

Fair Enough!

But Emenalo did not sign those players without the consent of the coaches or did He? Even If He did, previous coaches would have gotten rid of them if the thought they weren't good enough or no?

Leave that politics. There are several accounts of RDM telling Emenalo he needs a new midfielder whilst there is a certified report of boardroom meeting in January 2013 where Benitez argued for a central midfielder and Emenalo vetoed him leading to a serious disagreement sotay Benitez even briefed the press about it. Emenalo always protected Mikel and Ramires spots because he signed Ramires and Mikel is his brother, plus he knows nothing about central midfield play.

It's like saying Seedorf was directing team signings rather than Galliani. No manager at Chelsea had any power over team affairs until Jose.

But do you guys think we have a good chance of beating Tottenham. Because i foresee another episode of heavy defending in mid-week.

I saw an article, in which an analyst suggested that using Chelsea's heavy defending against them would be enough to stop them. So far so good, it has worked for Gus Poyet's side.

Everybody has now got their fair share of easy fixtures, time for City to show dem selves.

I will only consider our title race under jeopardy the day we lose a game, not even when we share same points as City.
