No one is to blame, that's the way the system works, he was a Former NSE president, guess he must have made part of his fortune from there when things were fine and now he has to live with the present, tomorrow to rise again

Same thing happened to warren buffet, a few years ago.

He's still Africa's richest though by miles

Wow! So many ignoramuses on here. Is GEJ the cause of the slump in oil prices? I'm not one to pander to these political shenanigans. But i can't stand idiocy either

I was deliberating this issue with one of mine friends this night.

Is it wise to buy cement at N1,745 and at which price can someone sell ?

Is the imported content in cement more than the local additive ? Why should the sliding dollar exchange rate to naira affect cement price ?

This man must have seen the hand writing on the wall. That's why after reducing cement to 1,308, he hiked it again to 1,745. After collecting N14bn from Nigerians to list a company. O boy!

Not only this.

GEJ govt unlike OBJ is favourable to his number one competitor.

See, if food no belle full man pikin, Wetin him comot from teeth using tooth pick no go belle full am.

Ibeto and Dangote cement were the pioneer private individual investors in cement business in Nigeria. All of a sudden, the govt of the day favoured one person above the other to the point of crippling one. Yours trully will want a govt that will tilt a favor on him again though it may never happen.

At least, when we do things, let's try and fear God. That's what I always tell people.

For your mind, world oil price plummeted because of Jonathan.

Dangote is not a very smart investor. Instead of investing huge amount of his wealth into USA or UK economy he keeps pouring everything into Africa with too many economists without brain! Smh...! Next he will sell the remaining part to Arab brothers! Jeez!

He could have worth much more and secure his wealth. I don't think the remain $17 billion is secured against the dollars or readily liquidated bonds. Smh...!

That is correct. But had we utilised the excesses / suplus we earned on crude to enhance the sectors you mentioned in the later part of your comment, we would have been better positioned to deal with the impact of the current fall in the price of crude.

I am an PanAfriconomist (An economist with a Pan African perspective). I warned friends and people on social media and forums but people called me crazy. I promote self reliance on my website but nobody wants to listen. www.africanedp.com

If Africans didn't love everything foreign then we would have more foreign reserves to strengthen the naira but we love foreign clothes, cars, products, hair, make up, etc. We are still colonized and don't even know it.

If Dangote was not developing this country with his billions, our economy will be worse off. Because most of the goods he produces will still be imported, putting pressure on the naira. The demand is always there, Nigeria has the population. The Nigerian economy made Dangote who he is today. So only sango or amadioha will make him stop investing in that economy that made him a billionaire.

I may not be right but with the little I know, I will still do what he is doing..

Why do you see businesses concentrating in areas with large population like Lagos state ? Because there will always be demand for what you produce. The business will record high turnover.

Dangote is doing the right thing. He has no hands to correct the world oil price plummeting, so he can only do what lies in his ability..
