The picture tells the story. the painted black men are slaves, while the black men dressed are also slaves but higher in rank than the unclad ones. their role would most likely be interpreters/guards. they are dressed so as to differenciate them!

And if your asking about the child amidst them, to the whites, he is an invalid. meaning that they care less about him

But to surpass the Whiteman is an impossibility. when exactly do u feel the blackman will become superior to the whiteman, when do u see the table turning..its technically impossible.this is not a case of student outsmarting his teacher, cos in this case, Africans havnt even been to school road, let alone knowing their teacher.
