This is Ose Ani served with pounded yam.

This is one of the tradtional delicacies of the Ahaba people. It is made from fried egusi seeds, fried pepper, crayfish and ground fish, among other ingredients. No form of oil is used in its preparation. There is also no boiling or 'cooking' required. As such it is a fast food of some sort.

This soup is currently going extinct as people of the younger generation now rarely prepare it, perhaps due to lack of knowledge of its existence and/or preparation.

While not looking like the most inviting of meals, it is certainly a very tasty soup. It is also quite nutritious due to its high protein content from ground fish, despite its lack of green vegetables.

It is not forbidden to serve it with cooked or fried or smoked meat/fish, but it is traditionally served as below.

I personally ensured the pounded yam was perfectly made, as I learnt from old Mumsi preparing her most cherished meal cheesy
Thanks for sharing. You people should be publishing recipes about these unique regional dishes. You underestimate what you have. smiley If you write an ebook of your unique regional recipes, with good photos of prepared meals etc, I'll personally buy it.

can you give me the recipe/processes for the garden egg sauce?

i used the Aubergine, thats what i could find.

Removed the skin, steam for 5min, then blend (not too smooth).

Now with palm oil and onion, fry it the same way you fry your tomate sauce.

Heat palm oil
add your onion, fry for few seconds then add your blended Aubergine.

Fry for few minute, you can add your sauce from meat and other spices you love.

Put down and enjoy your meal.

You really should write down the step-by-step procedure for these recipies, followed with pictures of the finished product. If you've got a smart phone, even better as you can make a video of these and either store or publish on YouTube, to save these dishes from going extinct.

Nice job though. Me likey. smiley

Good morning and I love you too. smiley

I soaked my corn for 3 days so yesterday morning I wahsed and took it to the engine for grinding after which I filtered it with that clothllike kind of ffilter. ( the one you tie to a rubber baff and white in colour). I allowed it to settle then removed the water after which I lit my fire, placed my pot on the fire, poured my filtered corn into the pot and added water to melt it to my taste (so as to make it soft and soft to my taste and just as if you are mixing pap with cold water to melt it before adding hot water) then I started turning it on the fire with a clean stick till it forms agidi I then wrapped it immediately with leaf (moimoi leaf).
