Do not be fazed by the fact that the website looks a bit tyro-ish, I am sure it is legitimate.
it is legit. I started the application last year but dropped it because it took them long to send in my ID. This your post made me remember the opening, and I have duly completed it.

Sorry to cut in, I doubt entry level staff will be affected, in fact, I expect more recruitment for entry lvel positions this year. Here is why; Only a callous organization (MNC) would lay off entry level staff with less than 5 years experience. However the panic the dwindling fortunes of crude oil prices may cause amongst these organizations, only the experienced guys may be affected by the job losses. Lets use the Shell model here.

Say Mr. A, B and C are very experienced individuals in department A earning over N1.7m/month, all sharing similar responsibilities. Lets say we retrench B and C since A can do the job too to save cost. Then we employ two excellent understudy earning 750/month who are now mentees to Mr. A and who can equally do some of the easy jobs Mr. B and C can do without supervision.

Ultimately, we hope the prices don't go below a certain benchmark because of our country. As for Total PLC, this had better be an entry level something else. angry

Every positions, Entry level or Experienced, are faced with the gale of retrenchment majorly due to the cut in capital expenditure and divestment of asset. In lieu of this, it is ridiculous to presume more entry level recruitment. More graduate recruitment will mean more salaries and allowances to be paid, and more money spent on training these graduates; and you think most company will be willing to embark on this when all they are trying to do now is to cut expenditures?

For example, if a number of graduates were employed to understudy an experienced personnel at a new drilling site; and the company decides to cut spending and close down their drilling operations, what becomes the fate of the new entry graduates?
Now assuming the company decides to shut down more operations just like Halliburton did in Houston, then you dont expect employees (even entry level) not to be affected.
I agree with u that entry level graduates may be less susceptible to retrenchment (of course due to the less salary earned), but when the chips are down; they either get a pay cut, transferred to unfamiliar duties or retrenched.

and yes, I hope the price for crude doesn't keep nose-diving (though shale oil holds sway now), and I also pray the total job is for entry level grin

Good analysis. At least we have a compromise.
