Hi fellow ladies Winds, for those of you who like to have longer and stronger nails, here are some tips and tricks to succeed.

1. Take off the nail polish
If your nails are really bad, you might need to go through a healthy, nail-repair program for a few months before they approach “normal” nails. This starts by taking off your polish and leaving it off until the repair work is done. (It took me three months.)

2. Start from zero
Since we’re basically starting from scratch here, there’s no reason to try to keep the nails you have now. Just file them off super short and try to regrow them stronger.

3. How to file nails
Filing your nails back and forth weakens the nail. Since the goal is to make the nails stronger, file your nails towards the center.

4. Choose your nail shape wisely
Personally, I hate square nails. But a square nail seems to break so much less often than other shapes. The almond shape can be particularly fragile.

5. Soak in gelatin
Apparently, soaking your fingertips in warm water with gelatin helps make them stronger. Good to know.
