Lol. These folks won't understand the science behind the business move. Usher discovered Justin Bieber on YouTube and he doesn't need to work anymore for a day in his life - he is rich forever off that alone, apart from his own catalogue. Ditto Akon and Lady Gaga.
He is investing in the guy's talented to reap profits and he will most likely benefit more than the guy. So, the onus is on him to make it a good investment; maximise the guy's talent and turn him into a megastar; and eat with the guy.
No favours in business - it is profit oriented. At least this is far better than doling out loose coins to folks like beggars, when he can give them a blueprint on how to create wealth for themselves.

signing an artists is a risk and especially unknown artists (why? because like all business ventures you cant exactly predict the outcome and you will spend your cash and time on such a venture or artists )

so what is the big deal if discoverer is fairly compensated for taking a risk on a discoverd?

you might as well say bill gates is unfairly rich, he risked his school cert and dropped out of school to set up microsoft.
