Lesgupnigeria:
Got any question to ask?
Then you can send it to my email or post it here
Asking questions allow you to keep knowing more what you needed to know to succeed in agribusiness.
Thank you so much for this information.
You said no fertilizer application in the first three months if one plants the hybrid sucker. When excatly can I apply fertilizer if I use the hybrid uscker? Secondly, how frequent and what duration does plantain farm need water right from the sucker plainting? Do you water once, twice or thrice a day? Or 2-3 times in a week or once or twice in a month? Thanks in advance for your response
Re: A Must Read For Plantain Farmers And Intending Farmers by Lesgupnigeria(m): 12:33pm On Mar 27, 2015
You are welcome
You can apply manure preferably after 3 months of planting. The root will have been well established and will be ready to absorbs nutrient for further growth.
You don't need watering during the rainy season but you can water at least 2 times or 3times a week using irrigation or stream source during the dry season.
Do you have a plantain Farm?

Yes,I do
I make use of a stream sourceclose to the farm for irrigation.
Do you have a plantain farm that you want to construct an irrigation on them?

You can never get it wrong in agribusiness with the professional by your side.
Partner with the only professional that have been successful in setting up and have managed farms profitably.

I manage your farm
I help sell produce by linking to my networks of buyer

I will not charge management fee during the management of the crops but charge only 20% after-sale profit after crop produce has been sold.

When you are harvest ing your plantain, cut the mother plantain at the middle at least about 0.6m above the gound.
The upper part of the plantain can be cut into bits and used to mulch the ground
The lower part will serve as a source of ,nutrients for the growing suckers yet to reach maturity.
This also allow the growing suckers to grow faster and produce bigger bunch.

please i have two option here . i was asked what type of land do i want ? weather land with trees or a Pisces of land without trees...............which one is better. thanks
Having trees or no trees does not matter in choosing a land for agriculture, what matters is to know whether the soil is fertile for what you wanted to use it for or not.
Re: A Must Read For Plantain Farmers And Intending Farmers by swiftkid007: 8:24pm On Mar 30, 2015
@Lesgupniger, how would someone know or test the fertility of a soil? Are there local methods of doing that?
