Damaging Chat Habits Particular To Youths Of Today by CuteMaryJ: 7:21pm On Apr 28, 2015
Gets up 7 a.m in the morning, sleepwalks into the kitchen, grabs something to bite on... His phone's battery is down; picks up his charger and leaves home in search of power to charge his phone. He visits all the salons, even while charging, he's on the phone, Chatting! Chatting! Chatting!!

The phone eventually power up to 30% after 2hrs of ineffective charge due to usage, he hangs the charger around his neck and with great joy, heads back home.

Without removing his shoes or sandals he cruises into the
living room, doing what? Chatting... Before long, the battery gets drained, he leaves home yet again to another barbing salon...

Nightfall; not really satisfied, he returns home say... around 9 p.m, and by 2 am, the charged battery is completely depleted...

*this circle continues daily and meanwhile this dude/sis is supposed to be a potential doctor....... Indeed many youths are captives of technology, all they do is charge -- discharge, Charge -- discharge, charge --discharge, moving about with charger! (Thank God for PowerBanks)

Some young people actually believe without their phones they'll die, some get suicidal tendencies when they have a low battery, SOME CAN GO TO BURIAL JUST TO CHARGE UP!!

You want to be a doctor (doesn't matter if you're a ''Jambite'') can't you start reading medical related books?... It's either one of these or even all:

1: You're chatting with your friend from a saloon where you're charging your device.

Spoiler: he's replying you from his office in KPMG.

2: Or you're chatting with your equally jobless friend discussing and arguing over Ronaldo's red card or GEJ's loss at the polls.

Spoiler: GEJ has accepted defeat, Ronaldo will be back... both men doesn't even know you exist!

3: You're chatting with your supposed girlfriend.

Spoiler: She's replying you from another dudes bed..(Nigerian ladies are the most unfaithful in the world according to research)

4: Most celebrities/people claim they don't chat; rather they reply messages, so that's the norm now..

Spoiler: nothing oh... I just dey laugh u.

5: You're chatting with a total stranger?

Spoiler: Wetin u wan hear? Keep wasting your time.

6: (I know you have more; you're the one with the chat doctorate)

Brov/Sis, this your condition no be your village peeps oh... Leave prayer, You're your own looming nightmare...

Ågbaya, Understand that what you spend your time doing is what you become. Nobody gets food on his/her table because he's a great chatter...

Forget the phone, think-ignite your future... At 18/22 you think you're still a kid?? I bet that 60 year old man/lady who hawks pure water on your street used to think the same...

Speak your mind, you're free to do so!!!...

Very true as described above but not always true in certain other scenarios. Usually It depends on who you are chatting with and what is being discussed. Social media and instant messaging has helped many access vital information which ordinarily would have cost so much energy and time. Information rules the world, good friends can link you up with rear opportunities because you are in constant conversation with them.
I got the job I am presently doing by a facebook inbox message from a colleague I was always in touch with.
While excessive texting/chats can have adverse effect on students there should be need to teach them good networking skills via rational use of the social media.
Trust me, most great deals and jobs are initiated via the social media nowadays. I don't see adverts in guardian newspapers like I used to way back. It is no news that all celebrities communicate to their fans via twitter even the president elect is now on twitter and he possibly chats.

See how you contradicted yourself.. If my battery was low and i didnt go to that barbers shop to charge it, how would i have read this your sad excuse for an advice??
The world is moving fast and everything is now on the internet, so people would always be addicted to their gadgets..its a sad truth..but it is the honest truth.
It all depends on what you use it for..

Bro if I was you, I would start to do less of chatting and charging and work more on reading and thinking coz it can be apparently deduced from your post that is what you need right now.

nobody says you cant read on your phone or do research, matter of fact i prefer my phone to any laptop most times.. Or you think anybody with a phone is on bbm or 2go chatting? And not everybody would be doctors or nerds..
So if you can blog all day with your phone and get paid then good!

I hardly chat, I'm not a big fan of IM apps cuz i prefer one-on-one conversations, but however I do use my phone to read up articles online and I mean news not just entertainment & gossip, keeps me up to date with current world events(Do you know over 5,000 people and counting died in the Nepal earthquake?). I know this is not really advisable but the Internet is also my law library in searching for cases and researching principles and topics. In all, technology is both a blessing and a curse. It all depends on what you choose to do with it.

mmmm.....this is very pathetic and very dry.

like seriously the story is just exaggerated abeg!

what about those who actually make money from being online and chatting? what should they do?

Who said that those who are using their phones are actually just chatting alone? which kind of wrapped mentality is that?

so because of one person i shouldn't talk to strangers i meet online or what?

nonsense post as usual

The rule doesn't apply to everyone!
