Yea. Pogba was poor, amateurish, and light years behind gibson in his final season here.

What I'm however interested in is What juve fed him that that transformed him into a world class superstar in just one summer

From your link:

...... "When I first retired in the summer of 2011, I spent the start of the next season working with Warren Joyce, the coach of the Under-21s. Paul was in that squad and the truth is that while he obviously had bags of potential, he was not really playing well enough in that period up to Christmas 2011 to warrant a place in the first-team squad on a permanent basis, let alone start games. Nevertheless, he made three Carling Cup appearances before the end of the year and, following that, his Premier League debut before his 19th birthday." - Paul Scholes.

....... "So by the time I came back into the side in January he might well have made up his mind that he was leaving. But I don’t suppose it helped having an old boy come back into the team in front of him. The reality was that he had not played well enough to deserve a regular place before then because, if that had been the case, our manager would undoubtedly have selected him. He had no problem picking a young player once he was convinced the lad in question was ready."

"Although I never spoke to Sir Alex about the details, the understanding in the dressing room was that Paul’s advisers just asked for too much money for his next professional deal. They wanted first-team money for a player who was not in the first team at that stage. United felt that was not right and stuck to their principles. He left that summer and very quickly established himself at Juventus, which can happen. You have to give Juventus credit for giving him the opportunity." - Paul Scholes.

".... There was no better manager at developing young players than Sir Alex. He knew just when to bring them in and take them out, and he believed in Paul Pogba. For once, in Paul’s case it did not work out. The timing was wrong and the difference between expectation on the player’s side, and the manager’s idea of his development did not match up. And, yes, perhaps I was a small part of the problem for those five months we were both competing for a place."

But at the very least Pogba got a chance at United. He had seven sub appearances for United, about what his performances at the time for the Under-21s merited. For those young lads who find themselves consistently blocked by a steady flow of more experienced players coming in ahead of them, the first team must seem a very distant place indeed". -Paul Scholes.

It can happen. Remember how unknown Nigerian youth players in the local league became automatic regulars once they got to Europe. Like Celestine Babayaro.

I want to believe Juventus unsettled Pogba at United. Juventus and Arsenal were interested in him before United signed him. From all that I have read, I think Juve never gave up on him. They probably pressured his agent and the boy when they saw him performed in the legend testimonial match organised for Scholes retirement. Juventus might also have added the minimum number of matches they would give him in their agreement/contract. Then Pogba tried to bend SAF.

Juve could afford to risk a young talent in a less competitive league as compared to SAF who had earlier told the press that Man City would never dominate United in his life time. SAF decided to stick to the boys who did so well in the preseason and his old reliable brigade.

A player like Iheanacho could be hired by AC Milan and becomes an instant hit.

In January:
"I can't see myself at Manchester United," Bale told Spanish radio. "In an interview recently I was asked if I was happy in Madrid and I said that I was very happy here.
"I have a long contract still to go, I am enjoying myself and we are winning trophies. I want to continue doing this at Real Madrid."

-One more thing. The reason I don't like us to sign Bale.

Comparing the exit of Ravel Morrison who had disciplinary issues with the club to that of Paul Pogba who left plainly because he wasn't played when the opportunity came for him to be played is not the same.

that a player is uknown doesn't necessarily mean he lacks quality.

The 'uknown ' Nigerians u are talking about didn't suddenly begin to exhibit quality because they became known.

Pogba's quality was there all along.
It just needed some confidence and That's What was offered him at juve.

each time I ask u this question u end up dancing around without answering.
It's not a matter of what u believe in. Pogba's case could and should have been handled better. Qed.

Nothing we'll not hear or read from transfer rumours.

Rooney, Mata and Herrera being offered to Barcelona.

I`ll rather go for Depay and still use the excess money to buy two other players.

We need to conclude our transfers early enough. If possible, before the transfer windows open.

When have you ever asked me this question? The question is uncalled for because there is nothing unusual there. A player who couldn't find space in a club, a league can be a super star in another. Even a flop in one team/league can be a super star in another.

Secondly, Ferguson has handled youths with much better potentials than Pogba. Pogba put SAF in a fixed and SAF was not one to be pushed around even by Cantona. Who says a latent talent is impossible of failing to develop that the club has to change it's policy and procedure for one who has not proven himself in the reserve competition not to talk of Carling Cup.

Lastly, every manager or an institution has a set standard of treating and adopting latent talents, new innovations, new discoveries, etc else they fall into error every now and then. Pogba's case was well handled. He was an 18 years old whose performance in the reserve team was inadequate, yet he was given rapid promotion to the senior team.

If you were here at the start of last season, you must have read how SAF was slaughtered with comments about mishandling Morrison's case. That was because Morrison was playing well at the time.

My guy, everyone becomes a pundit when there is an opportunity to assess decisions from hindsight. This is why the job of the sports writers is far easier than that of a manager. Millions read papers report as against a few who are privy to board room decision processes.

In the heat of the title fight of 2011/2012 which was probably the toughest ever for SAF, I am sure no United fan in their right senses called for Pogba to be given a starting place. Scholes' return was a big relief, and I was not happy when we lost the Wigan game without him. United started from the block very smartly but here came a City team, a City bitter rival, that appeared to be winning all their matches. There was no room for complacency and experiments.

Two teams finished with 89 points, it meant that the other teams took massive beating from these two giants. grin The results, score margin for us that season were even better than 2012/2013. 5-0. 4-1, 5-0 in an attempt to close the goals difference with City. With little adjustments United could have crossed 90 points. Linesman awarding a dubious penalty against Ferdiand at Old Tarfford when we played Newcastle. SAF sanctioning Rooney against Blackburn. SAF resting Scholes at Wigan.

The competition between the two teams was so stiff and trilling that they had no mercy on other teams. City scored 93 goals with plus 64 goals difference, while United despite beaten 6-1 in a match, still finished with plus 56 goals, scoring 89. EPL 20th anniversary award had no option than to name it the best season ever.

We should beat West Brom. From a few of their matches I have seen, they are incapable of hurting an opposition if they are not given an opportunity to counter, or score from mistakes (so to say). Their attacking play is not so coordinated.

Man United shouldn't go into the match with the intention of winning 4-0. There should be conservative approach, a plan to cut off W.Brom attacking building which they usually start from the deep. They often lose concentration by time they get to the final third. Nevertheless, we shouldn't go all out and taking them for granted. I am very sure they are going to seat deep. A two nil win will be okay. We should cautiously push for an early goal and never allow them to get into the game.

United confirm Depay contact.
Axel Witsel indicate desire to move to United. another hard tackler with good football brain.

Sven Bender, Verrati, Kondogbia, Gundogan, Christoph Kramer, Strootman, Scheiderlin, Pogba can all improve our midfield. even Javier Pastore!

LvG must get two from this group + Khedira (free)
