Van Gaals tactics were terrible today. After shaw was substituted for Evans, why the heck do you have to use Evans as 3 when you have a natural 3(blind) on the pitch? A normal thinking coach would have moved Evans to partner smalling in defense, move blind to 3 and Jones into 4. Jones has the physical presence to be a better 4 compared to blind expecially when we came under pressure. Evans was non existing at that left back position. The only highlight of his(Evans) evening was when he was one on one with zaha, zaha fell and he took the ball: he was still in his indecisive mode when zaha got up, mark him, took the ball from him, dibbled past him, and created a goal scoring chance. I know he saved us today but that guy wouldn't get into chelseas first 11 even arsenals. I'm not saying he's totally bad, i'm just saying he's starting our every match because we are poo right now. We need proper wingers that can take out 2 defenders completely and look to curl the ball into the net, not one that will will beat a defender the ballon a cross to nobody. One thing about football is; if the only style you know is to cross and you come against opponent that are ready for your crossing, stop the crossing and try something new like dribbling and shooting, that way you'll catch the m ll unaware and beat them. I think Blind has failed in his primary duty as a DM in two successive matches in that position. Against Everton he didnt do well. Herrera is far better there.

In the absence of Carrick, and the need to play Herrera as an AM, Jones is the best option if other defenders are fit. Jones is not a bad passer, he may not be a great passer but his pasing is good. He usually have a high pass accuracy from that position and he can drive the ball forward.

The bottom line is that he will primarily help in the defensive duty which would in turn reduce pressure on us and ultimately help the team to concentrate more in attacking play.

In first leg of realmadrid vs united joanes was use to block the midelfed and rolando. Even murhino use zuma to mark felleani in midfield when he was nedded but when you check today game crystal palce stars were wingers (bosa and zaha) so if he had push blind to lb bose will kill him. And jones wount be able to push the ball and codinate play when you check poba ,vidal they are 4 who codonatie play why cahil.luiz or other cb are playes who are use to win ball in midfield not cordinators. Only jones and rojo is qualified to be called a ma utd defenders, evans needs to be taken out of the pay slip entirely, smalling is only good for the bench and blacket and mcnair are still too young, they should be used in cup games against weaker opponents. Rojo is a no nosnsense gentle man like sergio ramos, he only needs to stay fit. I like shaw alot too but he can't just get over his injury prob.

Most of these guys you mentioned including Jones were used to man-mark or do specific jobs in the midfield which you don't do against a wee club like Palace. The fact is they're not good in midfield.

Our defence looks worse than it really is cos we lack a good DM/holding midfielder; reason why they are constantly exposed and have been better with Carrick.

We need good two midfielders; DM and CMF.

guy you seem you forgeting sumthings about defenders. You dont need to be a fighter to be a sucessful defender ... Hummels, varane rio fedinald, ivaniovic,kocieny,pique,dimecheis e.t.c this are few defenders that i know dont use force but dey are good in their clubs yes they maybe slow or less brutal but dey can handle an atakker. Good defenders dont just only defend they also scocre goals and assist.

Bro lets not drag this too long jare, you're only imaging what will happen to Jones but i am telling you what jones would have done : for bolasie or zaha to get the ball, somebody needs to pass it to dem right, Jones work would have been to stop that ball geeting to them and if it does, the right and left back will guard and push dem back to the middlke where jones and fellaini will have used strength to recover it. I told we did not need killer passing in this game because there was no one to pass to. Luiz was used in midfield to stop the flow of passing to Hazard and the strikers, and eventually if the ball gets to hazard the side bac involved tries to shield hazard back to luiz position, luiz played in front of thiago silva, so if you get past luiz through the middle, you'll have silva to deal with. I don't know if you understand but thats how football tactics are planned. Zouma was used to stop fellaini from bringing down long balls thereby creating chances. Man utd plays long ball to fellaini to shield and bring down for quicker players, so if you stop fellaini, u're indirectly stopping the speedy players. So if jones was used to stop the midfieders feeding bolasie and zaha, the impact would have been minimal. And did you notice that bolasie and zaha had to change wings? It was because valencia was too strong for zaha so they put bolasie there to match him for strenght. Bro all this things na game plan and tactics, though we won but our dear van gaal got it wrong just ike he did last weekend when he use fellaini as a top 9 and van persie playing behind him. Watching things like that makes me hate van gaal as a coach.
