You people like telling silly lies.

1) Why will the MD of a company have the time to go to another company/organization and conduct a job interview.

2) If you are applying for a job with an organization & it requires an interview with a panel made up of MD's wouldn't you do your research to figure who the top brass in the company are?

Abeg free me with silly "happened to my friend" stories, It's always happening to a "friend", no first hand stories. ...Ends rant, drops mike & walks out........

A professional will always and should always act as one.
The presence of your current MD in the interview panel should not put u off in the interview.
After all, I won't bad mouth my current or previous employer, instead I will insist and clearly say with confidence that my current job and the responsibilities that come with it has equipped me with the requisite skills to deliver above expectations and tha it has be a success win win story of accomplishments all the way.
As a star, you can turn the table around and even put it to them that your current MD who is a panel member can attest to your above average and track record of sterling performance all through your appraisal process. Believe you me, the MD won't air a contrary opinion in your presence and that level of composure will swing things in your favour to the extent even your current MD will call your present HR for an upgrade in order not to loose you.

Organisations are looking for people that will sell them selves high because if you can't sell yourself, how then can you sell a product, especially an intangible one at that!

Simple.

Throughout the interview...try to speak well about all the great things you have learnt fron your current working place..and why you think you will do great bringing that experience plus your own great skills.

Don't mention his name...but make his head swell as in (ah ah...we r d ones that trained him na...)
Best solution so far.

It depends on whether he sought for permission before going for this interview. If he did, then he should have faced the panel squarely. If not, he's a dishonest employee, who doesn't deserve to be in either places.

It will initially destabilize almost every person, but bosses also understand people move from job to job. He also must have changed job in his career.

Please try to post the name of the companies whenever issues like these arises, not only will it help others in believing your situation but it will help those who might find themselves in such situations. Now to your question, there's no crime in looking for better opportunities while gainfully employed, the crime however is being in a sensitive position and interviewing with a rival company. Now if your friend is not at risk of the later then he should go into the interview with confidence and use his current experience to sell himself.

I will go ahead with the said interview, but I won't say any negative thing about my current employer.

I will continue with the interview but he should get it in his mind that he will loose both jobs unless God is with him.

Chai, this fellow has lost the game by 2.0! cheesy

1.0 = His MD would discourage other panelists from choosing him even if he is the most qualified.
2.0 = His MD would sack him without further delay for attempting to leave his present job.
grin grin

I will boldly walk in and make sure that I am very composed for the interview. If I am asked why I want to leave my present employer, I will say the truth which will include the need for a pay rise and better working conditions in a more challenging environment. No shaking..
Re: His current MD was in the panel conducting the interview he went for! by seedorfg(m): 6:39pm On May 22, 2015
he should run and never search for work again, why, he may still be meeting her former MD at every interview he went for
Re: His current MD was in the panel conducting the interview he went for! by nerodenero: 6:41pm On May 22, 2015
That one na 2-0 already because the MD would make he doesn't get the new job and would still sack him in the former job. Na loss loss for the employee/job seeker and win win for the MD.

Common Ethics requires that the MD excuse himself/herself from the interview.

Say it. Confidence sells. Portray yourself as someone he is about to loose, his loss. Wow all of them even him, especially him. Let the others be aware of the compromising situation involving both of you.

It just happened today! A friend of mine met his current employer (MD) where he went for an interview and the MD was among the people conducting the interview for the firm. He was really disorganized immediately he saw the MD and wanted to disappear! What would you do, if you were him?

Fear not.
The MD is also guilty, of double jobs.
Greetings him well, even chat with him.
You're both hustlers.
