Now how do I explain this to u. Seeing that u are likely to be a colleague going by your Id

www.catie.ca/en/pif/summer-2012/putting-number-it-risk-exposure-hiv

True male to female transmission is higher (avg 0.08%) as compared to female to male transmission (avg. 0.03%) per intercourse. Note that 'per intercourse' as I earlier stated , go through the source and their references. I need not to state further that the risk increases with the number of intercourse, I think that should be obvious
chief, u r right.

My cousin's husband has been diagnosed with hiv. When I heard the news I put a call to her, asking her if she has it too but she said no. The man was first diagnosed +ve last november, after he became too weak and according to her, they took it as false because she was tested negative. March again this year, the man also tested positive but she negative. I then advised her to go for another test which she did few days ago and said it is negative. My question, is it possible for the man to have it and not pass it to her, or is she just lying in fear of stigmatization? She said she has stopped unprotected sex with him since last two months though, but how about other previous months they've been doing it raw. Doctors, experienced ones, please kindly say something. I'm really feeling bad

What is she still doing with that man? Why is she still having s e x with him?? Protection or not, she is putting her health at risk. She needs to run for her dear life.

Your aunt is wrong.
Blood group or genotype has nothing to do with contracting HIV.
HIV is a virus which can be contracted by any group, race or gender.
Latex CONDOMS have been scientifically proven to stop the transmission of HIV.
Use it and let others know.

ABC still works. Abstain for A
Be faithful
Or
C- use a condom.

Absolutely possible, we called them DISCORDANT COUPLE, before HIV enter into the host body, the binding of HIV with target cell is via a receptor mechanism, the glycoprotein gp120 of Hiv virus envelope will specifically bind with CD4,(cluster determinant) molecule on the surface of target cells.
CCR5 and CD4 Proteins together form the receptor for HIV.Thus normal CCR5 gene allows the entry of HIV into macrophages of your white blood cells.
In contrast, in people having mutated CCR5 gene and CD4 (like discordant couple), the protein is not displayed on the macrophage surface, without the CCR5 protein to latch onto,HIV fails to invade macrophages.
Thus individual with mutated CCR5 and CD5 protein ESCAPES the Hiv infection.

Reading this, it is paining my body seriously that your cousin is testing negative.

How come she has not caught it yet?

Life is so unfair.

So her husband was testing positive for a deadly disease and she was still moronic enough to be having unprotected sex with him until 2 months ago?

Kai!

Why has she not caught this for God sake?

God give her HIV please na!

I beg you, Baba Jesu!

I will go to church this sunday purposely to pray to God that she catches it.

Stuuuuupid people need to die.

yes..it is very possible. .that is what is called serodiscordance among hiv positives. .This is because some group of persons lack a receptor called ccr5 that is necessary for the virus to attach and replicate. .it is possible. .have seen some cases and we are doing a study on it right now in our teaching hospital. .

Its quite possible and is medically called serodiscordant female partner. It is commonly seen among some couples seen in gynae and antenatal clinic and can be explained by absence of CD4+ receptors in the T-cells on the transformation zone of female cervix. She can only contact the disease if she has trauma during intercourse or co-existing STI. Its advisable that the husband adhere strictly to his antiretroviral drugs, avoid multiple sexual partners, use condom during intercourse with wife and only have unprotected sex with wife during her fertile period if she want to concieve.

I am very sorry to say it but its not possible. I may not have much facts but there had been series of cases like that. The thing is that the viral load might be low, bt will still manifest. Advise the person to start taking drugs. it might take years but will still come.

@poster......please can u share with us other earlier symptoms ur cousin developed apart from being very weak according to the wife?
get tested! If u wait till ur cd4 drops, ARV might not help u much. I'm nt wishin u bad but most people wish they knew on time. If u know on time, u might not be placed on drugs yet and ur cd4 would be higher. Its low cd4 dats leads to AIDS and death.

what a question! If d guy is truly infected, has bn having unprotected sex wt d wife, and has been ejaculating directly into her womanhood, no way; she certainly has it. One may want to argue that her immune system could be very strong to resist d infection but I can tell u dt consistent sex (wc increases d viral load/population) and incubation period (time taken fr d virus to establish itself nd initiate infection) are integral factors that clould av predisposed her to hiv infctn..
P.S: I'm nt a medical doctor yet o; m still a microbiologist.....
no wonder. Beautiful nonsense!

Yes, it's possible, especially, when the HIV patient is on medication that rendered the HIV undetectable but it's rare. She must start using condom now!
That she doesn't have it now doesn't mean she won't have it in future if she continues having sex with her husband without protection.

Let me teach u. When we say literature in research I'm not referring to Williams Shakespeare, literature in research means studies that has been done by researchers and get published in the journals.thaw why u have that chapter in ur project/or research (if u have er been involved in one) called literature review
Knowledge is power people don t just sit down, think and bring a value from their head , it all comes from thorough research, I just gave u a link from pub med, now if u know a dime about medical research u will know how reliable articles from pub med are. So this is not fiction , do ur research ND stop being dogmatic,
I wonder how some people are so resistance to fact , u chose to new led by ur thinking while others are actively contributing to knowledge
Re: Is It Possible For A Hiv Positive Man Not To Pass It To His Wife? by Udyawanga: 9:36am On Jul 11, 2015
it is possible depending on your blood group and genotype. if ur B negative, there is no way u can contact hiv. the number of people with B negative is small. is like comparing O positive to O negative. experiment to this was performed in italy where 10 people wit hiv ana 10 people wit blood B negative whre alllowed to have intercourse for period of time after promise for financial setlement. it was discovered dat hiv virus was not passed to them wit B begative. rm people wit dat blood gp is small.
