1)Are workers easily retrenched?
2)Is promotion regular as per policy or based on Man know Man
3)Is the salary scheme standard as he heard that people of same grade and same dept are not paid the same.

I will only have answer to ur third questions as i have no idea on the first two questions. I'm still on trainiing and cant say much.
The salary scheme is standard but salary of same grade varies cos u maybe paid more than ur colleagues based on ur performance and input on job
