it can be rooted go to hovatech request for custom recovery he will grant u permission to download it now flash it via sp flash tool.head to SuperSU.com to download update su.zip place it in the root of your memory card now boot to recovery mode with power button and vol up choose install zip from sdcard nagivate to the root of your sdcard then choose the zip file wait till the process is done now reboot your phone u will see super su on your startup screen

but infinix hot2 is also lollipop 5.1 just like M2 mini, and it can be rooted without PC using kingroot apk how do you explain that? I think the rooting issue with this phone is beyond lollipop, but time will tell.
