"A devaluation will push up our capital base because of the structure of our capital," GT Bank's chief executive Segun Agbaje, told an analysts' call.

He said the top-tier lender had about $700 million of cash on its balance sheet, implying that any currency devaluation would boost profit, though he added he expected no devaluation in the first-half of the year.

Thank God we have a strong leader who is able to resist the pressure from currency speculators to devalue. Just one bank is hoarding $700m waiting to make easy profit from devaluation rather than do what is required of them to lend out the money. At the same time the bank is going out to borrow more dollars from international lenders to do more speculation.

I heard that there is up to $20 billion sitting in domestic accounts. Currency speculation has now become the new business in Nigeria to the detriment of developing our industrial sector.

It is true that we are here to learn and exchange information. But I wonder how someone who can register on a social media forum and even post, yet he cannot find the price of a stock online.

It is not speculation Ohhhh!!! It is commonsense...

If you have an uncle in the US today and he wants to send you 5,000 dollars to invest which option will you choose;

a) Western Union - the bank will convert and give you Naira equivalent at N197

b) Put in envelope and send through friend

The answer is clear...

EDUECO, cant you see people were trying to preserve that guy's mental safety? Or you did not feel for him........ grin.
Though you were smart to remove yourself by posting that screen so as not to link his injured emotions to you..... grin
Your help may have actually removed the anasthesia that the silence administered on him.... grin.

I'm seriously consider Diamond Bank for a long term play.

The Price to Book ratio is less than 0.1 presently...

P/E ratio < 1

Also I expect them to make long term gains from their retail play... as at last week, they had over 1m downloads of their mobile app > Monthly Active users > Monthly recurring revenue from commissions and fees.

PS: very similar stats with FCMB

Any thoughts?

We are all brothers and sisters in NSEMPA,nothing will happen to his mental safety! Even a professor is still a learner,it is not everyone that is aware of certain things;and that is where we come in to offer assistance.
