some Nigerias have made 5.0 CGPA in oversea universities in d past.

A Nigerian student, Victor Olalusi, from the prestigious Russian National Research Medical University has emerged as the best graduating student with a grade point of 5.0 in the faculty of Clinical Sciences.

Victor, the genius as he is fondly called by his peers, previously had the best WAEC result in 2004, after which, he Emerged as JAMB best Science Student with an amazing score of 322. He was also Cowbell Prize award winner in 2006. His name was in the Medicine first merit list in OAU. He made the highest OAU post UME Score of 325.

He was equally given Federal Government Scholarship in Medicine and surgery in 2006.

Victor’s University degree result is indeed a record no one can break, but can only equal.

You are a **** for this statement

He should go out and prove himself and not become a burden on the nation just because of a degree that is not recognised in developed countries.

What do you know? undecided

You should be ashamed of the nonsense you wrote

What is wrong with Nigeria and this certificate mentality. Certificate shoukd be a means to an end not an end in utself. We attach too much to certificate. This is why the country dont develop. Let him go to the labour market and distinguish himself.

don4real18:

First, I wish to congratulate Mr Ayodele Dada for his academic milestone of which many have tried and many have fallen so he should keep his head held high even though he is not to first and certainly won't be the last.

I stumbled upon a writeup few days ago on how the writer says that Mr Dada deserves a national honour/award and his reason was obvious; The 5.0gpa.

And I became so confused because I thought the honour was given to those who have rendered service(s) to the benefit of the nation and after a research, I concluded that the writer alongside many others are ignorant of what the National Honour truly stands for............

Nigerian National Honours are a set of orders and decorations conferred upon Nigerians and friends of Nigeria every year. They were instituted by the National Honors Act No. 5 of 1964, during the First Nigerian Republic , to honour Nigerians who have rendered service to the benefit of the nation. The Nigerian National Honours, in descending order of importance, are:
*Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal
Republic (GCFR)
*Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger
(GCON)
*Commander of the Order of the Federal
Republic (CFR)
*Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON)
*Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic
(OFR)
*Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON)
*Member of the Order of the Federal Republic
(MFR)
*Member of the Order of the Niger (MON)

The GCFR and GCON are customarily respectively bestowed on former occupants of the office of President of Nigeria and Vice President of Nigeria including former military heads of state of Nigeria and Chiefs of General Staff. The GCON is also customarily bestowed on the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the President of the Nigerian Senate during their first year in office, while the CON is customarily bestowed on Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (culled from Wikipedia)

Now, what does Mr Dada deserve?
Still the national honour or an applaud from the education lovers
His achievement is a benefit to himself and not the nation.
What did he do for his final year project?
Does it contribute to nation building?
Did he invent any mathematical theory?

There are many 2nd class, 3rd and many that didn't even attempt jamb but are contributing towards building the nation through the creation of job opportunities.

He should go out and prove himself and not become a burden on the nation just because of a degree that is not recognised in developed countries.

He has tried and I commend him but after school, life begins......... I wish him success
Bello Wahab O.

The writer is just a bitter and pained failure.......

The president has the sole right to honour who ever he deems fit. #Period

You have a good point. Yes, students who graduate with outstanding results should not be given national merit awards because it defeats the purpose.

However anyone would notice the bile in your words. You desperately wish to play down this feat. If there is anyone here who needs to prove himself, it would be you. The young scholar has proven himself and we recognize him. We don't know you.

I agree with the writer!. 5.0 is a personal accomplishment. It doesnt add anthing to the nation. He surely has a bright future and should be supported by the government if he decides to further his studies. But giving him a national honour. LOL undecided

@op. You're not that far from the truth as I'm in appropriation with you on the ground that National Honor is a bit far-fetched. I also agreed that something like automatic employment, financial assistance should be enough to say the truth.
However, I learnt something from the guy and that is being smart, he plays his card really well by putting himself in the spotlight through social medias. You know our politicians they like to score cheap popularity, and fortunately for him he works.
Once again Mr. Dada congratulations.

You do have a point, but you seem to be subtly arguing that it isn't worth the recognition. Maybe that's not what you meant but that's how it sounds.

I had to do a double take at "he is not the first and he won't be the last."

Pray tell... Who in your family, nuclear or extended, dead or alive, has ever gotten a 5.0 CGPA from a Federal University?

If there isn't, check your neighbour's family.

If there isn't, shut the hell up!
If you wanted to play to the gallery with this rebuttal, you did a terrible job and you deserve all possible condemnation! You see in life courtesy and respect for another are vital ingredients of all interrelationships, however if you are too savage to manage that at least leave a man's family out of your focus for insults! You need to learn manners!...

Re: Why Mr Ayodele Dada Shouldn't Be Given A National Honour by Mekurexx: 5:57pm On Mar 24, 2016
Lol so what do you categorize as someone deserving to bag a national honour? what he needs is national recognition not some honour or whatever. Why compare Olajumoke and the guy? thats very shallow if you ask me. The best govt can do to the guy is fund any further studies or employ him in a good firm. The guy that designed the national flag and anthem we both and even this 5.0 gpa guy use till tomorrow, will you give him a national honour or recognition? Which has impacted the country more? sad

OP, this is hard truth but typical Nigerians are coming for your head.

Congratulations to Mr Dada for the great feat he achieved for himself.

Let all stake holders encourage him to study further for research and event/discover solutions to many of Nigeria's problems.

Just a moment ago it was reported of Bishop Oyedepo challenging PhD holders of being useless if they can't invent solutions to societal problems. This is what America and other industrialised countries celebrate.

has he solved his own family problem
