Totally agree wit u BT I feel Dis guys pain in DAT he goes home daily feeling worthless... Some of d abuses just cont to ring in ur head.. Lol.
continuous verbal assault can break one ,depression sets in, u loose ur self esteem and worth and d ripples go on... Ending in suicidal attempt...
DAT man needs to b told though I don't kW how o! BT smbdy needs to tell him. Should b well thought out since he's d boss.
you have answered a question you asked. The man is a douchebag, but who go tell am so? I doubt op will wanna do that whether as an employee or a fellow employer aa they could have business together. You see, some people came to this life and became bosses with family money, thus they find it Easy to be idiots to some of us who are struggling in life. That's why I say everybody has a mission and vision. The job is only a means to actualising a vision and mission and must never be the vision itself nor the mission. That is Nigeria for you. But I must say, we also have ourselves to blame. If we don't speak out for fear of losing our jobs, we and all others will continue to suffer. We value temporary security so much we tend to forget that at times, until we cut our ties with the present, we can never move into the future.

This kind of boss needs to be talked to in a hard, truthful, but polite manner. He needs to know that the earth revolves round the sun, not him. He can't sack everybody.
But then no one wants to be made a scape goat. So we all suffer in silence.

No my brother, he needs to get full dose of his medicine plastered on his face with slaps, to think the e.diot hasn't even paid his workers.

OP, u jst reminded me of my experience wt one silly man in lagos. I jst qualified as an RN then and knw i will be leaving the shores of the country soon bt didn't wanna stay idle for the time being. The man is a Ghanian but i've never seen a man so uncouth like him, he lacks ethics, no confidentiality whatsoever. He relay his last patient's info to d next one who enters his office, like "u see dt man who jst left my office, he's got gonorrhoea and i've bn treating him for a while now" jst so d person can know he's competent.
He insult his staffs at will and even send them on errands to buy him food and beer with thr uniforms on them. It all felt strange to me bt i was jst waiting for d time he will mess wt me. As fate wld have it, i was supposed to start night duty like d following week and i've bn dreading d mosquitoes sef grin. Then i wore an overall over my uniform to take it off when i get to work
This man saw me and started insulting me, that i shd never wear anything over my uniform to his hospital, i told him i can't be wearing bare uniform all over lagos then he said YOU ARE FIRED. I heard that's what he normally do when he doesn't wanna pay ur salary, he jst pick up a fight and sack u. I said cool, i'll leave but can u pls pay me for d days i've worked with u, he said he will gt back to me. I refused n ds man seized up my cloth at d neck to throw me out, na so i seized his clothes too, called my uncle who is a soldier in lag too
The other staffs were so terrified and surprised, they said no one has ever put him in his place lk dt b4, immediately he counted my money n paid me . I left his hospital and replayed what jst happened in my head. I was jst laughing. Some bosses can seriously drive u nut

Braggante:
The office is in Lekki, the ninth floor of a fifteen storey building, and that's where the administrative works for the enterprise is done. We are a real estate development company we build and sell and sometimes lease out luxury apartments. The income is tidy, for the owner of the company. He is the reason I’m writing this.
He is a rich guy, extremely arrogant and does not care about his staff. When I say extremely arrogant, I mean he is rude with it. So here’s a typical scenario, which has become somewhat normal to Staff. You are enjoying your day so far; just around mid-afternoon, when you hear your name bellowed in the passageway by the voice you now know to dread. "Tunde! Where is Tunde".
You adjust your tie and step out as quickly as you can, knowing that delay will result in abuses. You step out, and as he sees you, then he shuts his door behind him. You hurry along, while your co-workers pop their heads out of their door to see the look of a dead-man-walking.
His office is ice cold, and you wonder why your ac in your office makes a lot of noise for nothing. Here you won’t hear the ac complain, you just feel it. Like I feel it now, in the ostentatiously decorated office. I stand a few feet from the door, still afar from his large desk. To the right stands a huge portrait of himself, gazing down on you, and even though you are not looking at it, you can feel his stare. He is on the phone now, talking loudly to an old friend. He laughs and says his goodbye. Dropping the phone on his empty desk, his face changes immediately he sees you.
‘Are you daft?’ he says. That’s not a question, and so you needn’t answer. Answering might be disrespectful.
‘I’m sorry sir?’ you say, your hands still held behind your back, as you start to sweat.
‘Are you deaf?’
‘No sir’, you reply promptly, not knowing if it was a question or not.
‘Did you not see me on the phone? Are you so stupid that you don’t know that you should wait outside till I call you in?’
To that you keep silent. He looks at you as if his stares will rip you into shreds.
‘Are you not the one I’m talking to?’ he barks.
Now let’s take a pause here. You remember when you were doing your interview? When he sat in the middle, and didn’t say a word and you felt you had impressed him? You remember how he nodded every now and then, and you knew he was the boss with his bow-tie and expensive wristwatch, you recollect? That was a month ago. You had thought you’d do all you can and he will be impressed with your work. Well, doesn’t he look different now? Don’t you just regret sending your CV here in the first place? Okay, let’s get back.
So he’s still staring at you, his stare colder than the blistering ac. ‘I’m sorry sir,’ you say.
‘Shut up!’ he says with the top of his nose. ‘What document did you request for? The MD said he has given you a copy already, so what else is it you are asking for?’
‘We need it to send it to the bank for the-‘, you are saying.
‘Are you deaf?’ he cuts in. ‘I said he has given you. Are you stupid?!’
Now pause. At this point, you are close to breaking in tears. Not because this here man is shouting at you, or that even though you are talking in a low respectful tone, he speaks so that the whole building can hear how stupid you are, no that’s not why you want to break down. And it’s not because all of a sudden your tie is choking the life out of you, or that you haven’t had the opportunity to eat all day even though you have black coffee splashing around in your stomach and you can bet it runs through your veins. It’s because you haven’t been paid for last month and it’s the 20th already. No, it’s not about the money. It’ about honour, dignity; it’s about getting a fair compensation for your hard work. No scratch all that, it is about the forking money. Else there’s no difference between us and the slaves on plantations.
‘I don’t have it sir,’ I say.
Then he stares at me for eternity. I swallowed hard, avoiding his eyes. My legs are weak now.
‘Okay you can go’ he says, as if he’s had just enough of me and I was fouling the air. 'I said get out. Get out.' He waves his hand as if to wave off a pesky fly.
A wise man once said there is the permissible fifteen minutes of madness in every man’s day. The wise man? Me. So I’ve carved fifteen minutes out of every day to do something stupid; something I want to regret much later.
Are you done?’ say I.
‘What?’ he replies, befuddlement on his face.
‘I was just asking if you are done, you rat face.’
He was silent. His jaw drops, lips partly open.
‘Do you know just how bland you sound? Are you really this irritating, or you pretend to be? Do you sometimes stop to listen to the crap that actually comes out of your mouth? Do you-‘
‘Are you mad? Get out of my office!’ he yells. ‘Get out of my building! You are-‘
‘Fork you, I quit, you forking arrogant selfish bastard!
He stands up and walks towards me with determination. As soon as he gets close enough, I swing out a punch, meets him right on the jaw. I hear it click. He yells and falls to the floor, writhing. 'why?' he asks.
'Give me my salary first, you forker!'
Then I drag him to the metal safe under his table, and order him to open it.

‘Yes sir,’ I say with a bow, and walk out.
That could have been my fifteen minutes, to talk back at The Man, to live, to be free, to start my own path as an entrepreneur...but I am in Nigeria where The Man knows you have no choice but to remain on his plantation, and a thousand more are gunning for your post and as soon as you leave, CVs will start rolling in. There may be nothing for you out there, so this was not that fifteen minutes of madness; no, it is not yet time. Will the time ever come?
I get back to my table, relieve the grip of my tie, fold my cuffs and get back to my slave labour.
Can you contact me later via whatsapp... 08037687072.

Well in this economy with limited chances, one can't afford to do things in hope of damning the consequences. One also must understand life isn't generally fair, thus suicide is a coward way out which should never be considered. He has to preserve though not easy to do. But he must look at the big picture and be like Christ when he got wind of his crucifixion, he prayed God to take it away from him. But do his will nevertheless

I have said it before and will say it again...Nigerians (for now let's stick to the ones on this forum) are a proud bunch who loves to complain at the drop of a hat . I'm beginning to suspect if its the food, air, modern education or the exposure to technology that has turned this generation to something so terrible. They can't frame a sentence in proper English, spend all their waking hours bragging about things they have barely experienced, while away their life living off one rich/well to do relative, believe they have a luxurious life ahead without moving as much as a small finger for it and blame all and sundry except themselves when they fail to achieve something that remotely resembles a decent life.
An employable youngster in Nigeria is becoming more like a myth. Even if the person is educated , he or she will be greedy, egoistic and lazy.I can vouch for the fact that 95% who commented on this thread are not employed. The long narrative describing how I thrashed him, how I put him in his place etc are nothing but figments of imagination. The minute they start their work after years of unemployment will be the minute they start comparing themselves to their bosses. The very man who gave you a chance suddenly becomes your opponent. When you misbehave, its called self respect , putting him in his place, blah blah blah. When the man who has built an organization toiling day and night asks you for something ,he becomes the rude despicable monster. In the OP's story wasn't the OP daft too? Who would t listen to your boss' personal phonecalls? Weren't you taught about privacy ? As if that is not enough this guy kept playing and replaying imaginary scenes in his mind each time he was asked something. I can only imagine what the Oga would have felt. Someone who found time to drink cups of coffee should have definitely found time to munch something, but no ..he wont as he is busy playing the victim. A man is enjoying his AC with the money HE EARNED after going through God knows what, but this fool here compares his own Air conditioner with his oga's within the first month of being employed. How many of you here, including the OP, would give up your own AC and other luxuries for your employees or for that matter your loved ones ? :/ Nobody, I repeat, nobody is born with the perfect life. If they've got the money, they would have some other issue. Learn to turn your disappointment into a blessing.

Edited : I took the pain to go through your previous posts OP. You are one haughty egoistic selfish being with worrisome temper issues. I'm sure you are still single or will soon be one with this attitude of yours.

Saddened with the reckless behavior of this generation. How can someone throw away his jobs on something as trivial as an Air conditioner ? Imagine, securing a job and then fighting with senior staff for AC remote and end up being sacked. If this chap finds every job as a glorified version of slavery he should sit at home. Let a more deserving candidate get that job instead.

Lol. You even had the time to go through his previous posts? Wow. If you were a boss, your employees would be in the cross hairs everyday.

Perhaps you have never worked in an organisation where employees are treated like human beings with dignity and worth. As long as he provides value to your company, you are expected to reward your employee with good working conditions, not condescending innuendos or outright insults. An employee that is harangued everyday at work would do only what is required and nothing more. He would never contribute more than he is paid to do even when he sees that the timely extra unsolicited effort would put the company ahead of competitors.

I still believe in treating my employees (even I.T students) like humans who have personal dignity. You'd be surprised how much they would sacrifice for your company even without asking.

Nope, you are wrong. I have worked in a corporate office where I was bombarded with work so much that I never found time to ease myself for 12 straight hours. We are not talking about a day or two here. So much of time was spent in front of computers that I had to be rushed to the hospital due to an extreme dry eye that caused my eyes to turn a bright red and excruciating pain. I developed a severe back issue at the age of 25 from long working hours and bad posture. Im still paying for the breathing issues developed from centralized Ac. I used to be severely humilated in meetings and appraisals during my intial years. Couple that with pay that was inversely propotional to my effort, qualification and hardwork. But I survived. Never for once did I make a face at my superiors nor create a fuss. If I was wronged I would let me them know I was not okay with their decision in a civilized manner. Your bosses are there for a reason and you need to respect that reason. And boy did I enjoy the fruit of my patience. When I look back now, I wouldn't have been here had it not been for those turbulent years. But can the newbies survive? Can they withstand the pressures of corporate world? I doubt.

I whole heartedly agree with you about treating employees right. Infact every human being deserves respect , irrespective of their class and caliber. In this guy's case its different though. As someone who has had the time to come here and read through these posts, I don't think its a crime to make one or two extra clicks and go through his previous posts. Every story has more than one side to it. If you ever become a decision maker, try to listen to both sides before making a final decision. Assuming the OP has not deleted it, you'd see he's had issues with former employers. Going by his language he's making up the whole stuff or he's got real issues. I still find it difficult to believe someone would throwaway jobs for trivial issues like Air conditioner et al.

The truth of it is that your level of freedom will surely be affected by working under someone, but you have to keep on enduring till you can establish yourself.

What is bad is leaving a company all in the name of entrepreneur without strong plan that can sustain.
