Since we are talking food - SANDF "rat pack" (feild rations)

Note that each meal has a day-number on it. This is because the meals are designed to help soldiers maintain a healthy and high calorie diet in the feild, so specific meals must be eaten on specific days.

Although, they are not perfect... one of the favorit "war stories" my father likes to tell is how the only casualty his unit suffered while deployed "on the border" was an unlucky troepie who cracked one of his teeth on a particularly hard toffee. grin cheesy cheesy

Are these really rations/M.R.E.

I have posted countless pictures of sniffer dogs with the NNSBSC and NA SF. The armed forces have being deploying k-9 dogs since the niger-delta days and till now.

The only thing I can't boast of is a airborne trooper and his k9, and one of these days we lay hold on such pictures.... cheesy grin

What is it with you trying to belittle the Nigeria Army or any african army for that matter?

The Nigeria army has been using war dogs in counterinsurgency for donkey years

Both in raids on boko haram and ansaru sites in sokoto, zaria which netted HVTs. And even in the niger delta insurgencies

Even the navy SBS has used war dogs in niger delta ops

Oga henry has shown you pictures of an SBS war dog yet you are still arguing

Nigeria armed forces has been on COIN mode for more than 10 years. S/leone, liberia, mali, darfur, bakassi, niger delta, Northeast and you are all of a sudden claiming that it doesn't use war dogs in COIN and the North East?

This is inconceivable and utter bladderdash

Under COAS ihejirika, the war dog section for boko haram existed as of 2012

In 2014 alone, i know COAS- minimmah deployed 20 war dogs against boko haram

Under the regime of herinjika he commissioned the 1st AH K9 in Lagos (Barracks bust top command ipaja),State and I was there in person . Then the 2nd one in Abuja by minimah. Two dedicated dogs Brigade of the NA. I can't say for the airforce or navy.

From the video of the Cameroonian B.I.R I just watched and downloaded, I must say at these junction that those guys are well geared and elite, despite the harsh weather of there operations.

And again why is it that the Nigerian armed forces dosent get much support from the United States except for sanctions.

Not exactly sky diving with dogs but from june 2013 KDF has been gradually intergrating combat dogs in the field.

There is even a 4min video done by NTV called women in the military where the show the first ever canine regiment in kdf. the officer talks about how its costly/painful when they loose a dog in combat
that photo is from the west gate terror.i love to see both the police and General service units incorporate dogs especially in the north east and lamu in their war against alshabaab. in vehicle searches, during raids and road side IED's.i haven't also seen AMISOM utilise dogs more broadly.mostly i have seen them used in searches at the somali president residence or state junction

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) held a colorful celebration to mark turning 52 this year, following its establishment by the Statutory Act of Parliament on 18 April 1964. This year’s celebration was tagged “NAF Re-union 2016”, it held from 12 – 15 April 2016 in Bauchi state.

but i still have my doubt about if kenya defence forces are utilising dogs in their day to day tactical operations, even if there is no funding for AMISOM to utilise them in somalia. what about when KDF is deployed near our border with somalia!

Are these really rations/M.R.E.
THEY LOOK MORE OF CHOCOLATE/BEVERAGE CLASS.....

The old SADF (South African Defense Force, i.e. Apartheid era Army) ration pack was extensively developed during the Angola/South West Africa "Bush War" 1966-89.* It came in 2 varieties, 12-hour and 24-hour, and was based on British Army ration packs of the time. Both contained a wide selection of canned goods.

Based on experience in the operational area, the ration pack was modified in the early 1980s. Canned goods are bulky and heavy, and generate a lot of trash. The new ration pack reduced the number of cans to 2 or 3, and the cans themselves were smaller. The bulk of the pack now consisted of ready-to-eat foods or dried foods that could be quickly prepared in the field. There were 5 menus, differing only in the variety of canned main meals and the flavors of the accessory items offered.

A 24-hour ratpack contained:

2 canned main meal items
1 can of vegetables
1 envelope of enriched milkshake powder (3 flavors)
1 envelope or carton of ProNutro instant cereal (3 flavors)
1 envelope of instant soup mix
1 plastic bag of dried fruit (usually raisins)
2 energy bars (3 flavors)
2 small plastic tubes of processed cheese
1 pack of hard biscuits (4 total)
1 roll of vitamin C fortified dextrose tablets
3 envelopes of fortified energy drink mix (5 flavors)
packets of instant coffee
tea bags or packets of instant tea
packets of powdered creamer
small envelopes of sugar
small envelope of salt
small tube of condensed milk (later dropped from ration)
pack of bubble gum
folding can opener (P-38 type, but a little larger)
matches
fuel tablets (either in a plastic "film can" or a blister wrap)
plastic bags
napkins

Main meal cans included: chicken breyani, braised steak, corned beef, steak in onions, curried fish, vienna sausage in brown gravy, ovamboes (sausages in brine), minced beef with noodles, chopped ham, & corned beef hash.

Vegetable cans included: peeled potatoes, garden peas, mixed vegetable salad, potato salad, and beans in tomato sauce.

Cereal flavors included: malt, vanilla & "porridge"

Milkshake flavors included: vanilla, cream caramel, & lime

Powdered beverages included: orange, tangerine, lime, & lemon

Energy bars were: Chocolate Nut, Chocolate Mint, and Rum Raisin

The current SANDF ration pack is almost identical, but the number of menus was increased to 6 (with a vegetarian menu), and then later to 7 (with a Muslim hallal menu).

Shows "interest in", doesn't equal "orders". I wonder how it is a casualty.

A political criminalisation doesn't equal an arms theft scandal.

Did you or your office allocate the money for the ATAK helicopter, and can you provide evidence that money for the T-129 ATAK helo was allocated and siphoned?

The current COAS Buratai, was incharge of Army procurements at Army HQ for 4years under GEJ.

Like i said previously don't taint the thread with spurious claims of fairy-tale allegations. Let the courts prove who is guilty or not.

oga henry im really dismal and surprised by your words. I didnt write the numerous online articles about Nigeria's interest on the turkish chopper and your rash reply suggest that you are dumping the blame on me.
.
it was all over the media that Nigeria was interested In the T 129, we all supported the move, we even defended the said move on the 'strongest country in Africa' thread. some even went as far as to compare the T 129 with the SA rooivalk.
.
.
although interest in an object doesn't equate order for that object... but I was only commenting base on the report I got from the internet and beeg's blog who even started a whole thread for it.
.
.
now Nigeria didn't purchase the chopper due to 'unknown reasons'.
.
yet we have an ongoing investigation in an arms scandal which dasuki is at the center of it all. however #dasukigate is the ONLY arms theft scandal presently ongoing nigeria hence I added 1 + 1 together.
.
.
news flash henry; year 2016 april no T 129, no chopper, no money for it and someone is in jail for stealing money for weapon purchase who do you expect me to point

Lol, if you know Nigeria well you wouldn't have made that mistake.

Dogs were extensively used in Abuja in 2014 by the army and police. But after the whole boko haram issue moved to NE I hardly see them again.

Which court put Sambo Dasuki in jail?

Can you show us the RFI the NAF issued in regards to the order?

Can you show us the contract signed for the T-129?

Can you show us the money budgeted for the T-129?

What ongoing investigation, a political witch-hunt doesn't qualify as an investigation. I'm not holding brief for anyone, especially Dasuki.

I want to know what evidence you have which shows money was budgeted and siphoned for the T-129 ..... Is a baseless accusation now an order?

Bringing up my old post is not an evidence either.
