Nope. You can't. And even if you manage to manipulate it somehow to access google by first opening an airtel site which I can give you, you won't enjoy it fully cause you will not be able to go past the first page cause whenever you search for something through google, it will display other sites and these sites are not under the coverage of this freebasics plan.

I have tried it previously. Didn't work for me. But you could check out Wiki, Wikipedia, and others. They have proved as much help as google.

I thought it was a fluke until i try it. Free facebook, free Nairaland, free goal.com and free wikipedia. It is a nice gesture from Mark Zukerberg and Airtel. Using it to comment now.

Contrarily it works. That's what I have been using to surf nairaland non-stop on my opera browser for a couple of days. And yes, you can post comments and view pictures unhindered.

Heck, I even changed my image quality to high. It only requires that you place nairaland appropriately inside the freebasics link.

Tested and working fine in opera mini, it is only accessible to airtel users, you can download the app free of charge on your android smart phone.

With so much news about this "amazing innovation", I decided to give it a try this morning but nothing worked. Perhaps I am missing something or not doing something right.

I also tried to download the app from the playstore but they said it is not available in my country *shucks* but then I goan apk link, downloaded it and still nothing

I got these instructions from Airtel but that also came to naught
"Follow these steps to use Free Basics:
On your airtel phone, go to your phone’s settings.
Turn on mobile data. Don’t worry, Free Basics won’t deduct airtime from your balance.
Go to the internet on your phone browser
Type: www.freebasics.com
Click “Continue” to accept the Terms. Now you can use Free Basics! "
