I v bin following cucumber threads for some time now. I v even planted(murano), my question is ow long are they expected to live, cos mine re getting brown n dieing at around 60days, though av harvested some cukes.
the harvest wasnt impressive because of pests n I didn't add fertilizers. it was just an experiment. I v planted another batch(tokyof1), hoping to correct my earlier mistakes

Thanks for the reply. Hope this doesn't sound annoying, I noticed that your bag of soil doesn't have "gravel in the centre" which I've learnt z quite important in sack farming. Considering the water drips at just one point, how does t saturate d whole soil on the bag? On a side note: Damn, that your soil is really really black abi na dark I go call am, kudos

I think gravel applies only when the sacks are larger or the soil does not drain well eg clay soil. This bags are smaller and water moves down quite easily.

Good job ishaq. More grease to your elbow. I want to try this sack farming on a small piece of 3m * 8 m space in my compound. I have the following questions:
1) what no of rows would you advice and no of sacks per row.
2) can I mix the soil with fertilizer before filling in d sack. (If yes, ratio n fertilizer type)
3) do I need to perforate the bottom of the sack so as to reduce water content when there is excess rainfall.
4) for this small setup, do I need irrigation setup. Can't I just wet by sprinkling water.
Thanks as I await your response.
Regards

Firstly where Do you stay?
1). it should be 2feet to 2.5feet between rows nd line up the sack within the row.
2). Top soil,cow dump,black soil@ ratio (2:1:3)
3). just a little becaus it is already done for you (cement bag)
4).I will like you to try using drip even local one if you have the means.
