On the second point, becoming a writer is not mandatory when starting a blog. there are lots of other ways one could get genuine, original content and still succeed at blogging. I agree, knowing how to write helps. It's just not a make or break factor.

Wordpress and blogger are not the only platforms, but seriously, when it comes to blogging, look no further than blogger (free blog) or wordpress (self-hosted blog). The two stand head and shoulder above any other platform out there. I use wordpress for my blog (signature link) and I don't think any other CMS measures.

I totally agree on the fourth point. To succeed at long term profitable blogging, stay away from black hat. very important. Do everything by the book.

I think knowing what you want to blog about is one of the paramount thing in blogging. I have been blogging for five years now. Despite all this how to, the best way to blog is to learn by mistake. Also you should not engage in blogging because you want to make money. DO it because of passion and other things, including money shall follow. More of this on blog before Seun kick me out again for unpaid advertorial.
