ishaqteejay:

Firstly where Do you stay?
1). it should be 2feet to 2.5feet between rows nd line up the sack within the row.
2). Top soil,cow dump,black soil@ ratio (2:1:3)
3). just a little becaus it is already done for you (cement bag)
4).I will like you to try using drip even local one if you have the means.

Thanks for the response. I stay in Lagos.
1) noted I would do that.
2) do the manure(cow dump) comes as already dried or i buy wet and dry myself.
3) noted
4) I would try drip on a larger piece of land later. If I do that now, my landlord might feel intimidated n increase my house rent. shocked
Thanks

Great thread, for the first time I am actually following post on nairaland and its really been great. I want to venture into vegetable farming, precisely tomatoes and pepper and I think I would love to do this sacck farming first in my backyard to learn while prepare towards going commercial. Thanks a great deal for all the info. Still following keenly though

well it work for some people but it is too salty, so you should know how to Put it.its better to experience it by testing even in one sack.

Pls am about to start the Project but mine is a mixture of cucumber and ugwu leaves. ishaqteejay I have these set of questions:
1. What is the size of the hose used in the drip irrigation. If I decide to ask in the market what type should I ask?
2. Can the mixture 2:1:3 also work for ugwu. Will also the fertigation work on ugwu?
3. Due to my schedule in school (MSc) can I leave the drip irrigation throughout the day even in the afternoon cos am considering that?
I know I diverted to ugwu matter pls bear with me.
