I still believe religion has some part to play in Africa's development, but it's our mentality that has the most part to play. Yes, i do agree that there's a lot of countries who are first world nations and are not religion centric as we are over here. However Africa is different from other Continents, in the sense that our forefathers worshipped several dieties some which required human bloodshed and some other evil and primitive practices and some of this practices probably continue even to this day, as a result of these prior occultic practices you discover that many things are not working well, take for example, Africa is the most natural resourced continent and yet the poorest continent. At the end, it all depends on your perspective sha, you may not really believe in some of these things but they are real.

Show me a country that mixes religion with affairs of state and i'll prove to you that they are a country filled with lunatics. Throughout history there are documented facts why it is absolutely horrible to intertwine state and religion. The spanish inquisition, ISIS, and the crusade, readily comes to mind. If religion was so important to a country's politics, countries like china, Estonia would be done.

I don't blame the Oluwo, though his statement makes it obvious that he lacks personal principles. I blame the kingmakers of Iwo, who gave the throne of their ancestors out to the highest bidder.

Maybe God actually spoke to him, maybe he didn't. One thing I am sure of though, you have to choose which manifestation of Supreme Deity you intend to worship. This man has no business on the Iwo throne since he has obviously chosen the God of Israel. You cannot serve two masters at the same time.

Samuel Ajayi Crowther and other missionaries did a thorough job sha. Most now hate our gods just as much as the missionaries did.

But you can't blame Samuel though. He was sold off as a slave by his people and destined for some plantation in Cuba or Brazil but was rescued and nurtured by the British. No better way to revenge than to destroy the people's religion and culture.

Even though the Oba is 100% correct... That alone won't solve the Nigerian problem. The leadership and our system of governance has to be completely overhauled. Uprightness and discipline must be enshrined in our in our national lifestyle beginning from leadership.
Faith (what the Oba advocates) is important, Work (our collective effort to do what is right leaders and followers alike) are the two important steps to move us forward as a nation.

Good governance has absolutely nothing to do with religion. There are more "no religion" in developed countries yet see how fast these countries are developing. Infact the japanese and chinese still worship their idols yet they are progressing at an alarming rate. Like you said, it's all about doing the right thing, butbit has absolutely nothing to do with religion either idol, christian or islam.

Wht do u mean by religion" you think every tin ia all about religion" this life is more dan what you see mr man dis life is more dan what u see we need God more and stop say religion" what tha man is saying is the ture note he is not talking about religion" here to stop it and grow up

of course! His statement makes you see that this so called custodians have bit built any system or regard their true history and what they have.! I keep saying it that the bane of the black man problem is his thinking. When there are alot of people like his type in a society it's detrimental. Not to talk of being a leader
